  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The 'Macro-Micro' thing....again..

Me: How long until you post that the Earth is 6,000 years old with only the appearance of a 4.5 billion year age?

AV1611VET: Never. Never have and never will.

http://www.christianforums.com/t7806587-4/#post65086288
I know what was asked, and I know what I said.

Is there a problem?

Slipping "only the appearance" will get a negative reaction from me.

I never said that, and I never will.

As I have said about ten times in the last eight years:

The earth appears 4.57 billion years old, because the earth is 4.57 billion years old.

And I have a feeling you know that.

Adam appeared 20 or 30, because Adam was 20 or 30.

Then that means the Earth came into existence 4.5 billion years ago. That's what 4.5 billion years old means.
LOL ... trying to excite the newbies, are you?

So...11 pages in and, despite the best efforts of AV to derail yet another thread which makes him squirm, NO-ONE has been able to suggest a BIOLOGICAL 'barrier' which would act to prevent the processes of evolution continuing beyond an arbitrary point...

Thank you....

I pointed out a barrier in post #15 but I'm sure you will dismiss it. Even the scientist that discover this barrier just wave it off and claimed it had to be different 500 million years ago.

I think what you are looking for are "developmental gene regulatory networks " (dGRN).

Here's a quote from biologist Eric Davidson "There is always an observable consequence if a dGRN sub-circuit is interrupted. Since these consequences are always catastrophically bad, flexibility is minimal, and since the sub-circuits are all interconnected, the whole network partakes of the quality that there is only one way for things to work. And indeed the embryos of each species develop in only one way." (Eric H. Davidson, "Evolutionary Bio-science as Regulatory Systems Biology," Developmental Biology, 357 (September 1, 2011): 40.)

Evolutionist Marshall believes dGRN had to be a lot more flexible in the past since this has to be so in order for evolution to be true.

Why? I see no reason for this claim at all. Perhaps you should have quoted properly. Where was your link? Quotes without links are extremely hard to take seriously. You have only yourself to blame for this being largely ignored.

Excuse me, but in your own words, how is that a barrier to further variation within the genome...?

Can you please show us the peer reviewed scientific studies which demonstrate this barrier?

At best what you pointed out are guardrails, not a barrier.

Guardrails? Guardrails that so far our best scientist can't break through.

You haven't even shown us a scientific paper that supports what you are claiming. Perhaps you should start there.

Added by edit:

I did find this paper which outlines research on the evolution of genetic networks in Drosophila. Seems to show the opposite of what you are claiming.

http://genome.cshlp.org/content/early/2014/02/24/gr.163014.113.long

In that paper, they actually outline the mutations in gene networks and how they have caused populations to diverge over time, otherwise known as macroevolution.

Deep time aside, God is a God of boundaries ...

Psalm 104:9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

... and He has set boundaries that nature cannot cross.

Including evolution.

Whether that boundary is a spiritual one, or whether it is somehow encoded in DNA to terminate a species before it becomes a new genus, or whether God predetermined extinction, or whatever; the point is: macroevolution is off limits by design.

Once again, AV has no problem adding to the Bible.

Really?

The Bible has the universe being created in 4004 BC, whereas you guys have it at 13,700,000,000 BC.

Who's adding more?

You are trying to add evolution to this verse:

Psalm 104:9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
