  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You are trying to add evolution to this verse:

Psalm 104:9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

It's so transparent and desperate to take a verse out of context to suit their personal opinions. AV has done it so often, I wonder if he can even tell anymore.

"O Lord, My God, You are Very Great
…8The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them. 9You set a boundary that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth. 10He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains;…"

Even your chief mucky-muck denies this.
Pat Robertson is not a member of my church, so he is not my 'chief mucky-muck.'

And he can deny anything he wants to deny.

I'm sure we would either deny his request for membership, or submit him to Matthew 18 discipline.

So?

The principle is the same.

If God sets a boundary for A in nature, can't He set a boundary for B in nature?

Oh, please.

Look in the mirror.

How far out of context do you guys take Genesis 1?

In fact, you even rearrange the order of events to suit what you claim you see in nature.

G1 out of context is not near as ludicrous as G1 in context. As for rearranging the events of G1/2, don't worry, the authors of both those accounts did it for you.

You can almost hear the cosmic face palm every time you pull Ps. 104:9 canard out to suit your purposes.
Here's another canard you can facepalm:

Solomon, who had apes imported ... possibly to study them ...

1 Kings 10:22 For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

... concluded this about evolution:

Ecclesiastes 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

(Note that he referrs to evolution as an invention -- not a discovery?)

You haven't even shown us a scientific paper that supports what you are claiming. Perhaps you should start there.

Added by edit:

I did find this paper which outlines research on the evolution of genetic networks in Drosophila. Seems to show the opposite of what you are claiming.

Tempo and mode of regulatory evolution in Drosophila

In that paper, they actually outline the mutations in gene networks and how they have caused populations to diverge over time, otherwise known as macroevolution.
Comparing fruit flies with others fruit flies = macroevolution?
Macroevolution deals with body plans. http://ac.els-cdn.com/S0012160611000911/1-s2.0-S0012160611000911-main.pdf?_tid=7b4336d4-9f34-11e3-91ac-00000aab0f02&acdnat=1393453530_4362ffc32cfd10e3f4f28a8582b1501a

Comparing one species to another species, and demonstrating that they have diverged since sharing common ancestry, that is macroevolution.

Macroevolution deals with body plans.

Macroevolution is change at or above the level of species. In this case, there are changes between species of fruit flies. That is macroevolution.

Why even quote the Bible? Just write your own verses. It would be a lot less painful.

Species is not defined by a black and white line but more of a large gray area. If this is the best you got then macroevolution is in serious trouble.

That's what you'd like me to do, isn't it?

No, thanks.

Notice this passage:

1 Timothy 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

Notice how Paul is lumping evolution in with fables?

Notice also how it does nothing but 'minister questions, rather than godly edifying'?

An apt description of many of these posts; don't you think?

1 Timothy 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies ...

I guess Matthew didn't get the memo.

Matthew1:1-17

1 This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

2 Abraham was the father of Isaac,

Isaac the father of Jacob,

Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

3 Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,

Perez the father of Hezron,

Hezron the father of Ram,

4 Ram the father of Amminadab,

Amminadab the father of Nahshon,

Nahshon the father of Salmon,

5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab,

Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,

Obed the father of Jesse,

6 and Jesse the father of King David.

David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife,

7 Solomon the father of Rehoboam,

Rehoboam the father of Abijah,

Abijah the father of Asa,

8 Asa the father of Jehoshaphat,

Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram,

Jehoram the father of Uzziah,

9 Uzziah the father of Jotham,

Jotham the father of Ahaz,

Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,

10 Hezekiah the father of Manasseh,

Manasseh the father of Amon,

Amon the father of Josiah,

11 and Josiah the father of Jeconiah[c] and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.

12 After the exile to Babylon:

Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel,

Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

13 Zerubbabel the father of Abihud,

Abihud the father of Eliakim,

Eliakim the father of Azor,

14 Azor the father of Zadok,

Zadok the father of Akim,

Akim the father of Elihud,

15 Elihud the father of Eleazar,

Eleazar the father of Matthan,

Matthan the father of Jacob,

16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.

You're better off just making up your own bible AV as you're so close to doing it anyways.

You know darn well this verse is not referencing ToE.

Deep time aside, God is a God of boundaries ...

Psalm 104:9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

... and He has set boundaries that nature cannot cross.

Including evolution.

Whether that boundary is a spiritual one, or whether it is somehow encoded in DNA to terminate a species before it becomes a new genus, or whether God predetermined extinction, or whatever; the point is: macroevolution is off limits by design.

Fine......please describe that encoding.....where do we find it in the DNA please...? The world of biological science is waiting breathlessly for your revelation...!

Unless, of course, you were just making another baseless, and therefore worthless, assumption....?
