There are a good number of Pentecostal Churches in this area, but I have found the other ones kind of like Kenneth Copeland etc. That is certainly not for me.
United Methodists.

You know individual churches, regardless of which denomination, RC or EO, can do this. Many are very cliquish.

I wonder, if those highly energetic folks weren't running the aisles for God what would they be doing instead? Better let them run around the church...

Well, just because they have a show that supposedly claims our faith came from such encounters doesn't mean they support that view.Scott_LaFrance said:It seems as though the History Channel is fascinated with the history of Christianity. I have watched several of their documentaries and found them thorough in their empirical researched, even if it was coming from a secualr bias. Recently, however, they ran a show that tries to claim that Judaism/Christianity is based on alien encounters (Episode: UFOs in the Bible). They even had a Presbyterian minister (Barry Downing - dressed up like a Catholic priest, which I found peculiar) who was absolutely convinced that our faith is based on encounters with extraterrestrials. I was wondering if anyone saw this and what your thoughts were.
Here is a link to Downing's book, The Bible and Flying Saucers
I never meant to assume that just because one rogue minister teaches and writes books that claim that our faith comes from aliens and ships that the whole faith group holds that view. I think Downing is rather off his rocker to be honest. How can one hold a ministerial position within a Christian church and believe that aliens, not God, are responsible for humanity?CardinalBaseball said:Well, just because they have a show that supposedly claims our faith came from such encounters doesn't mean they support that view.
I've actually seen UFO's in the Bible. I don't believe that it ever came to the conclusion that this is how we got a faith. Just a show about people who do think that.
Wisdom's Child said:Yea...a novel concept I admit.
An Evangelical service in the morning for the masses, and a Liturgical service in the evening for the faithful.
As with most churches you will find that those who attend in the evenings are your most ardent supporters, while visitors and "fence sitters" typically attend only in the mornings.

So watching anything about Christianity and learning where there are faults in it must be a good thing.
I personally found nothing that would lead a person
to disbelieve the Bible in the History Channels scular
packaging of Historcal facts.
