You should have asked for a dictionary for Christmas. Why then in psalms is one verse true but not the other ?
You previously didn't know the meaning of the word "indoctrination", and there was another one as well, though I can't remember what.
"True" and "literal" are not the same thing.
Is it true that Jesus said, "if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away"? Did he mean it literally? And if you say "yes", have you done it?
Is it true that Paul said that he wished that those who taught circumcision should have their bits cut off? Did he mean it to be literally done?
Is it true that Jesus said "I am the vine? Was he literally a plant?
Is it true that the Bible talks of the trees of the fields clapping their hands? Is it literal - do trees have hands?
What you need to look for is the truth that is being expressed in the poem, allegory, parable or saying.
In the first example, what Jesus meant was that if something is preventing you from entering the Kingdom of God, (and therefore receiving forgiveness and eternal life); get rid of it.
In the second example, Paul was exasperated with the people who taught that circumcision was necessary for salvation. I don't believe that anyone would have read that and thought, "Ooh, we'd better do it - the Apostle Paul has said so."
In the third example, no, Jesus is not a plant. He was talking of the relationship that he wants us to have with him. HE is the One who provides life. If we remain in him, we will bear fruit.; if we are apart, or disconnected, from him we will cut ourselves off from his life and strength and will not be able to bear fruit.
In the last example the Psalmist is talking of God's whole creation rejoicing.
