  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Two weeks was too long, what, with all the swearing that was going on, here is mild in comparison, if these threads ever get like the ones at the FES then I would consider leaving for good.
Perhaps it's a good thing then you've created so many flat earth threads to put that to the test.

@contratodo , @d taylor , @Apple Sky any progress on how to explain the flights from Sydney to Los Angeles and Santiago on your flat earth? If the earth really is flat then it should be easy for you to demonstrate how the flights work.

Unbelievable!
You are asked, and not for the first time, to stop putting pink blocks into your posts as they are irritating and make the post hard to read.
Instead of saying, "oh sorry, I didn't realise", or "or I'm sorry, I'll stop doing it because I want you to be able to read my posts," you blame those who have made this request of you, saying that you don't believe us, that we are nit-picking and that you'll do what you like."

Your spiritual fruit of kindness seems to have gone mouldy.
I can kind of understand her position. My Dad had never been sick in his life and he couldn't accept that the chronic pain my Mum suffered was real. He said it was all in her mind. His stubborn unwillingness to accept that his experience wasn't the norm nearly ended their marriage. Fortunately God intervened and permitted my Dad to contract double pneumonia, which left him with Emphysema for the rest of his life. It humbled him and permitted him to recognise Mum's suffering for what it was.

Obviously @Kathleen30 does not find the coloured blocks unpleasant. She just refuses to accept that her experience isn't universal.

I'm sorry that your parents went through all that.

I can't even see a reason for them. No one else uses them; she must be doing something to deliberately put them in.

I'm just explaining why it's a problem for others.

As for you personally, I'm very rarely in the same threads you're in, so if you're doing something that bothers others, I don't know what it is because I haven't seen it or noticed it.

I'm just addressing the issue in general.
Ok I added a little extra to my previous post you may have missed

Okay. I'll address that with what I consider a somewhat more applicable analogy.

Let's say person A works in an office, and person B working next to them likes to tap their fingers on their desk, or hum out loud, which person A finds annoying.

Is it unreasonable for person A to ask person B to stop doing that?

Isn't the earth flying through space causing gravitational acceleration, the flat earth explanation for there being gravity on earth?

No.

I looked it up and actually... Universal Acceleration/Constant Upward Thrust:The Earth (the flat disk) is perpetually accelerating upwards at the same rate we experience gravity (9.8 m/s²), pushing everything down onto its surface... is a flat earth explanation for gravity.

But I also see that that's just one of several explanations.

From my understanding, Einstein's gravity describes the Earth's surface as accelerating upward while an object falls.
This is as much that I know about this.

But what is gravity ?

My question had to do with what causes gravity, rather than what it is. We know that gravity happens through either spinning or acceleration. Both of which would seem to go against Psalms 104:5. However since I've seen that there are multiple theories regarding a flat earth having gravity, that dispells my inquiry.

tl;dr Never mind

Servus I fail to see the analogy between a mere silent pink marker and someone making noise by singing or making noise by tapping their pen. I dare say if you have time enough to be tapping your pen for a duration of time at work. . Means one is not working productivity in the office and could well be seeking new employment.never mind about the noise issue : ) . But it is best we heed Apples advice and respect the topic at hand. Yours Kathleen

The theory is that it’s the mass of an object which causes gravity.

Sure acceleration will have an effect on the object which is accelerating, but the earth is rotating at a constant rate, and its rotation would cause what is called centrifugal force, but its gravitational pull must be by some other means. And that would be by its mass according to the theory.

However, whatever is the cause, gravity itself is a fact, not a theory. One has only to fall off a ladder (as I almost did a few weeks ago) to show that gravity is a fact, not a theory!

To find the cause one has too look at the reason for it.
That's just not true. For example, it is perfectly possible to understand the cause of thunder at lightning without knowing the reason they exist.

The theory is that it’s the mass of an object which causes gravity.

This doesn't cause gravity.
It is the density of an object that causes it to fall, you only have to look at balloon to know this.
