Quotes from Christian Courier, concerning Zechariah 14, as covered by Matthew Henry's Concise Bible Commentary.
"The fundamental problem with premillennial theology is its inability to discern the difference between literal and figurative elements of the Scripture".
From the book, "Biblical Hermeneutics" Professor Milton Terry. "A thorough interpretation of the prophetic portions of the holy Scripture is largely dependent upon a mastery of the principles and laws of figurative language, and types and symbols". Also quoted in the same commentary as referenced to the meaning of Zechariah 14.
"The truth of the matter is, Zechariah 14 has no reference whatever to a millennial reign of Christ on earth. The Bible indisputably teaches that the Second Coming of the Lord WILL TERMINATE ALL EARTHLY AFFAIRS", (2 Peter 3:3,10).
The Dispensational and Premillennial view are teaching a "literal" interpretation of Zechariah 14 which is "
doomed to failure" according to Milton Terry, PHD.
Christianity.com (Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Zechariah 14:16-21). Direct Quote from the accompanying text.
"It is evident, that a figurative meaning must here be applied. Gospel worship is represented by the keeping of the feast of the tabernacles. Every day of a Christians life is a day of the feast of tabernacles; every Lord's day especially is the great day of the feast".
There is no indication whatsoever Zechariah 14 refers to a reinstitution of Levitical temple worship, or the reconstruction of a Third Jewish Temple. According to Christian doctrine, there is no need for a physical temple to be constructed in order for the "feast of the tabernacles" to be observed.
Again. According to real Christian theology, and 1 Corinthians 3:16, terms like the "holy place, God's House and the temple" as used in End Time Bible prophecy, refer figuratively to the "bodies of Christian believers", not a physical temple building. There is no existing Bible Commentary, or conservative scholarly opinion that disagrees with this opinion. Absolutely None !..
Do you guys even bother to read what Bible scholars say about the meaning of Bible prophecy before you post verses making erroneous statements that try to support evangelical and Jewish mythology about a Third Temple ?! Guess not.
