I wonder what it must have been like to be Moses and hear God voice. Not just the Holy Spirit's conviction on your heart but actually hear His voice. It makes me think of a Touched By An Angel I watched yesterday, a little girl could hear the choir of angels sing. It was explained to girl that all children could hear the choir when they are born but "grown up" noises like TV, school, phones etc make it so most children her age couldn't her the choir anymore. I wonder if that's how it is with God, we're too caught up with our noisy lives to hear His voice anymore? Just a thought.

I think you're on to something.....it says something about Moses' relationship with God, and how He focused intently on God, in spite of ALL the chaos and tumult around him...his attention (and his heart) never wandered from God, as he maintained his walk with God.

Maybe that's also part of the reason he actually "heard" God's voice......

i can't fathom actually "hearing" God's voice...

and i also can't fathom what it must be like to hear God actually sing:

"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." ~Zephaniah 3:17

Awesome!

This verse caught my attention.....God speaks of "fearing" Him again, and it almost sounds like He's pleading with the Israelites to have a "right heart" before Him. Kinda reminds me of when Jesus sat overlooking Jerusalem and saying how He wanted to gather the people to Him like a mother hen gathers her chicks under her wing......the "longing" of God for His people sorta comes through in this verse....

29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

THIS is an AWESOME chapter! God stresses the importance of the Israelites TEACHING their children generation after generation after generation, and these verses stand out for me, and here again is reiterated the "fear of the Lord":

Verse 2- That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

Verse 5- And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

And here is a "key" that God repeats here in this verse, and it's about "the heart":

Verse 6- And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart

And God elaborates, that if it is in their hearts, they will "speak" of the God they love in their sitting down and their rising up and in their comings and goings and in their conversations with each other.....and that, because they love their God, this will be as natural as "breathing":

Verse 7- And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Here in Deuteronomy 7, as i was reading it, i realized that God must know that these nations may influence the Israelites (the Israelites might want to be a "part" of these influential and enticing nations) thereby rejecting their God, yet one more time, and that is why every semblance of them had to be wiped out.....in further thinking about it, it seems that the Israelites were carrying out God's judgment on these nations.

here in verse 3 of Deuteronomy 8, is what Jesus spoke when He was sorely tempted of the devil:

"3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live."

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." ~Matthew 4:4

I didn't catch that! Good memory. I'm enjoying the book of Deuteromy. .
