Wow, look at this in chapter 14! UGH! How can Moses put up with these people?!! This is OUTRAGEOUS! Look at verse 4....they're gonna make a captain to return to Egypt.....they were despicable...

1. And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

3 And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

And look here!!! The children of Israel were in a mob mentality and were gonna stone Joshua and Caleb!!!!

6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

God's grace is inexplicable that He was STILL interacting with the Israelites, through Moses.....He was STILL gonna bring them into the land He spoke of, even after all of their disobedience....

Verses 1 and 2:

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,

I agree, I found it amazing that God continued to look over the Israelites and speak with them through Moses after all of their defiance. Personally I would have given up by that point, but it does prove that God is persistent, all loving, and truly wants his people to love Him back.

But I wonder what the 4 tassels signifies other than to remember the commandments. Why 4? Why not 5 or 10? What do the "corners" of the robe signify? That sort of robe, is it like a tunic with open sides? That would have 4 corners, but if it was more like a robe we know of today here in the US it has no corners, really only 2 corners.

Today's chapter (6/25) is https://new.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers%2017&version=NIV

I apologize for posting late like this. I got crossways with some people in CF singles, and it's been a huge time sink, plus it really hurt. I've been spending all my CF time and then some trying to work out the mess, and it has taken time away from this study and starting the Secret Sisters group. So I apologize for any problems that's caused.

Numbers 17:

Wow, even after God sprouted Aaron's staff, the Israelites were still mumblin' n' grumblin'....talk about stiff-necked! Ugh!

8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

10 And the Lord said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

11 And Moses did so: as the Lord commanded him, so did he.

12 And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.

13 Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the Lord shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?

Interesting.

At first that bothers me, because it's like God's being so mean and so nasty and so picky. But really, it makes sense. Didn't God tell Moses that no one could see His face and live? As I thought about it, I found myself in awe of the glory of God... He is so great that sinful men... even the holiest... could not stand before Him, in His presence.

That IS sobering, and as i think and meditate on it, very necessary.....to be a priest, one had to be seriously embracing and be wedded to a Godly fear of the Lord. He IS Holy. This is a sobering reminder that He is.

Wow, this really hits home the ENORMITY of Jesus' power and grace, because He superseded ALL that would have condemned someone else....He by-passed ALL that was required if someone was exposed to a dead person....He soooo exuded LIFE that even if someone had been dead for three days (Lazarus) death, and the curse of it had to bow to Him, The Lord of Life Himself, and loosen its grasp on its victim. It had to obey, because the curse of death knew Who He was.

ASTOUNDING!

We have MUCH to be thankful for and singing His praises. The ENORMITY, the inexplicableness of what He conquered and defeated may never be fully realized this side of heaven. Halleluia!!!!
