Balak is STILL tryin' to side-step God's will.....

and here's a verse that is repeated from Genesis:

vs 9: "He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee."

...sounds like Balak needed "ears to hear"

How many times do we try to side-step God's will for our lives, in big ways and in small ones? I know I've been guilty of trying of it and God had brought me to my knees, sometimes literally. He's brought me to my knees in prayer for forgiveness for not following His will. Sometimes it's been He's brought my figuratively to my knees by changing my heart and my mind.
I wonder will happen to Balek?

I've actually wrestled with God....usually because of something excruciating, and amidst tears......maybe that's a little different as I think about it...

there have been other times I just didn't care about what He thought, and those were times He knocked me flat, literally, once I got pneumonia and nearly died.....I was kinda hard-headed.....He sher did get my attention

25 Then Balaam got up and returned home, and Balak went his own way.
I hadn't read the scripture for the day when I wrote this, I have to laugh at Balak. Sounds like he was miffed!

I needed some more light shed on today's chapter so I looked to David Guzik, as I often do. I understand this scripture a lot better and I wanted to share the commentary with you too..
Numbers 25 - David Guzik Commentary on the Bible

Thank you, this was extremely helpful....I did not grasp that Balaam had told Balak ways that Israel could curse itself.....

I had a time recently were I nearly died from a heart problem... My heart was beating far to fast... And all I could think of was to pray for my husband, that he be okay. I was okay with going home if my husband was going to be okay. God must have felt my work was t done because I'm still here.

Bless yer heart, wow, now that i think about it, i mean that quite literally for God to bless yer heart. Yes, may HE bless yer heart and strengthen and sustain you and may He give you many many more years as you continue shining for Him and blessing so many. Father may it be so, in Jesus name, amen. (((hug)))

Here's some graphs to help show the changes between the first and second censuses....
http://www2.math.umd.edu/~jmr/numbers.html

Wow! I couldn't help but think, as i looked at the graphs, that during the 40 years of the Israelites wandering, God was "weeding out" the "tares" so to speak.......i'm soooooo thankful for this study of Numbers, a book i probably would've never ever read.

So true, God does seem to be doing some weeding. I had read Numbers when I was a young Christian; it's meaning is so much deeper to me now.
I'm so thankful for this study of Numbers too.
