  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Brinny,

I have just read Chapter 12. And it is all bad news.

Jehoash the 7 year old king reigned 40 years and was then murdered by his servants.
(Verse 20)

Hazel was set to attack Jerusalem. Hazael was bought off with all the temple treasures. King Hazael of Syria was satisfied and went away with all the temple treasures.
(Verse 18)

The only good news was that the Temple was repaired (Verse 11)

After the death of King Jehoash his son Amaziah became king in his place (Verse 21)

Re: 2 Kings 12:

Here is where Jehoash sold his soul, so to speak. His heart was never 100% God's, as evidenced by vs 18. When it came right down to it, he had no fear of God nor a love of God. He would've never done what is recorded in vs 18, and in addition, would've been praying TO GOD about ALL of it.

verse 18:

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

He feared Hazael more than God. In other words he just made a mockery of God to all of heaven and earth, testifying that God is not ABLE and He's not a God to be BELIEVED in, cuz by golly, HE sho' didn't believe in Him.

Brinny,

There does not seem to be much good news in Chapter 13.

The prophet Elisha died in verse 20.

Before Elisha died he predicted three victories over the Syrians in verse 19.

A sick man is healed by touching the bones of Elisha verse 21.

Hazel King of Syria died in verse 24.

Ben-hadad the son of Hazael becoms King of Syria in verse 24.

Israel has three victories over the Syrians and regain some lost cities in verse 25.

2 Kings Chapter 14

Amaziah reigned for 29 year in Judah.

Amaziah was a good king.

Amaziah tried to make peace with Jehoash of Israel but failed.

Jehoash tried to marry his son to Amaziah daughter.

Amaziah said no so they went to war.

Jehoash won and looted the treasures of the Temple in Jerusalem.

Jehoash died and Jeroboam II became king of Israel.

Amaziah got murdered by a conspiracy.

Azariah was made king in his father's place as king of Judah.

Jeroboam II was an evil king.

When Jeroboam II died his son Zachariah became king of Israel.

About Elisha, why did he die, and not go to heaven in a chariot of fire?

yet, Amaziah did not take down the high places...makes ya' wonder why.....

4 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.

Brinny,

I have listed the kings of Israel and Judah from an encyclopedia to try to clarify the situation.

Brinny,

So many kings had similar names.

The two kingdoms Israel and Judah both had kings.

I doubt that there is a man alive that can remember all these kings names.
