  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

*[[1Ki 12:8]] KJV* But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

As a father we think our children will always take our council to heart...but as teens they tend to put more wieght with their friends opinions....so make sure you know who your kids are friends with....all that David had built lost with one dumb decision.

Rick357 it is part of growing up the we throw of some parental control over our lives. We just have to hope that at least some of it sticks. Enough to stop the child going off the rails, hopefully.

Re; chapter 12:

This is where Rehoboam sealed his fate and revealed an utterly foolish and evil heart, when he decided that the older men's advice was not appealing to him, and in essence, rejected it before he even asked the younger men. His heart was a willing vessel to carry out what God said would happen after Solomon died:

8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

and so it began.

Interesting......isn't it written not to fear man, but that if we fear fear God, we fear no man? Fearing man is the equivalent to "idolatry", which in essence, is "worshipping" man. It sho' 'nuff is putting man above God. It'd be an awesome study....

How quickly the flesh can destroy what the Spirit has established...taxes...bad advice...bad decision...fear...idolatry...false preachers...false feast...false offerings...devices of the human heart...a little leaven; leavens all......so very sad.

Jeroboam was a complete disaster for the 10 northern tribes.

I wonder why Jeroboam was chosen to be the heir to Solomon ?

Same reason Saul seemed like a good choice looked good to the flesh....be careful what you set your heart on.

*[[1Ki 13:2]] KJV* And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.

Jesus said with what measure you meet it is measured unto you...the alter he intended to be a alternative to what God commanded became a alter of unimaginable sin.

We can ignore Kings easy enough but we must also ignore men of God when the Lord has spoken to us....
Paul was set to go to Jerusalem no matter the prophecy of several(which were true)others Paul could not be swayed.
Or Peter who Jesus had just encouraged that God had revealed to him who Jesus was found himself rebuked as an advesary that desired the things of men not God when Peter tried to persuade him not to go to Jerusalem.

Why did the old prophet lie to the man of God?

It is the gainsaying of Korah...are we not also priest of God does God only speak to Moses...
It is unfortunate that a great many people will add God said to a statment to give it streangth when God has not spoken....
Is it not ironic that the man whose words where trusted more than Gods was the same man who prophesied his death.
