This is an interesting point, but how do you think a person is "destroyed"? Does that mean killed? What then?
Destroyed, regarding the beast person means being cast alive into the lake of fire.

The lake of fire is not actually hell. Hell is a place where souls go after people die (prior to Christianity, which Christians souls now go to heaven to be with the Lord). There are two sides in hell, one for the righteous and the other for the wicked, with a great divide between the two, which seems to indicate the bottomless pit. (from the story of Lazarus and the rich man that Jesus spoke about.)

Anyway, hell that place, after being emptied out, will itself be cast into the lake of fire at the time of the great white thrown judgement at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ on this present earth.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Maybe you are unfamiliar with this verse Doug. Gog/Magog happens after the 1000 years, so it can't be Gog that those verses are referring to.
Gog and Magog in Revelation 20, is just indicating the nations that had taken part in the Gog/Magog event in Ezekiel 38-39, a thousand years before.

No, I think you've just hit on a very important clue on what this "beast" actually refers to, because the only thing that will be truly destroyed at Jesus' coming is the lie that he's not real, and it's that lie that deceives the world and keeps them from the truth.

The world will know that Jesus is real when He returns at the 6th seal.

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

The beast and the false prophet get tossed into the lake of fire when Jesus returns at the end of wrath which is at the 7th trumpet OR the 7th vial..

The DAY STAR, is cast into hell. Hell is the lake of fire.

Isaiah 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Be careful here. Isaiah 14:15 uses the word "sheol" which the KJV incorrectly, or rather misleadingly, translates into "hell". It really just means "the place of the dead" and everybody goes to sheol when they die, both the wicked and the righteous. This is not the lake of fire.

I think it's important to note that Revelation 20:13 uses the word "Hades" which, being the Greek counterpart to the Hebrew Sheol, refers simply to the place of the dead. The use of the word "hell" is very misleading, given the pop culture imagery it conveys and the myriad of misunderstandings that flow from it.

Props however for correctly pointing out that both the righteous and the wicked go to this place of the dead, although I wouldn't rely on a parable to give you any kind of visual imagery to help you understand it as Hades is not a literal place, but rather a state of being.

The OT went to sheol, but that stopped at the Cross, when Jesus opened Paradise to the church.

"hell" is a swear word where I live.

This is a good point. I think I need a little more education on Sheol, hell, the pit, the bottomless pit, Abraham's bosom, the lake of fire and the like.

Mat_10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Heb 11:14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
Heb 11:15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

The OT Saints' bodies went in the ground and returned to dust.

However, their souls went to God.
