Baptism means getting wet just like taking a bath means getting wet. It means in water unless context shows otherwise.
I'm going to skip all your rejection and misrepresentation of what I said and point out to you that it is spoken no less than five times of Jesus baptizing the believer with the Holy Spirit, and it is the same word you claim simply means "getting wet."
I think I'll carry on with my biblical belief ...
If your belief was biblical, you would reject water baptism as being necessary for salvation.
... and leave the interpretational gymnastics, pickle recipes, and erroneous beliefs ...[/qote]Sorry. You can try to leave them here with us, but those are yours. God bless.

Actually, I believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is mentioned six times. You are the one who uses the words "simply . . . getting wet." As far as I'm concerned there's a lot more to the baptism of the Holy Spirit than "simply . . . getting wet." However, if you desire to characterize my beliefs in that pejorative fashion that's your choice. Just remember it's your characterization, not what I really believe.

God bless you too! :liturgy:

Since "getting wet" in water baptism is not the same thing as the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I agree.
