  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you telling me that when the Holy Spirit reaches in the heart of man and convicts him of sin he cannot accept of reject that call?

I am very disappointed in your theology FL. You should know better than this false doctrine.

Without a work of God men will always love and defend their sin ... someone convicted by the Holy Spirit will come to repentance

Repentance is different than just feeling sorry... It is God that gives repentance ...

Nope!

The call to being a follower of the Lamb comes in His time and His place. It is based solely within Himself and His power to draw all unto/into the Master in His time by His love & grace.

You did not choose Me...!
I agree that He will put man in that place and time for the Holy Spirit to call. Then the decision is up to the individual. Not for some but for all.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 7:21

I suppose all of mankind will do the will of the Father?

What is the will of the Father? How many actually know what that will s?

Who will make that decision? Jesus said He is the good shepherd.. He goes after His sheep..if they stray He goes to bring them back.

Sheep is an interesting analogy ...sheep are very dumb, if they fall they can not get them selves up.. when thirsty they don't even go looking for water , they have to be led there .. They do not make very good decisions :)

Dear Mom: What an aweful realization it is!

  1. To receive Him it must be granted to you. It does not come by the will of the flesh, nor the will of man.

  2. The Lord must open your heart (like Lydia).

  3. No man can come to Jesus Christ “it is granted of My Father.”

  4. The foundation for being a disciple of Jesus Christ =
You did not choose Me, I chose you.

The will of the Father is that all men be saved.

Does the Bible teach that will happen? Of course not!

Actually that is not what Jesus said or taught ...

This is kind a field from my question ... what is the will of God?

The key words are "His sheep." Yes He will go after His sheep when they stray.

What about those who Jesus says are not His sheep, can He go against their will and bring them in, not back because they were never His?

I believe God called all men and all are free to accept or reject the call.

Those who accept, He has foreknown and predesignated
That belief is compatible with the greater hope. Imagine that.

Yes, God is the Saviour of all men. But only the saved have their sins forgiven and enter into heaven. They are special.
That belief is compatible with the greater hope as well. Isn't that special? - lol

... God as the One who passed sentence because of Adams fall, but at the same time gave us hope that Christ will rectify all things.

And your point.
That belief is also compatible with the greater hope. We seem to be making some progress here. Kudos.

Romans 5:18-19
Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people,
so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners,
so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Why would you confuse the conviction of sin through the Holy Spirit with God's call?

I don't know what translation you are using but it is misleading. I use the KJV.

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

The "free gift came upon all men." What does Peter say we must do to receive the free gift? This is conditional. Acts 2:38

Has the whole of humanity met the requirement that Peter laid out?

The gift came to all men, but as we see, all men will not meet that condition.

Who is the Holy Spirit? Is He not the third person of the triune Godhead. Is He not God?

When God the Holy Spirit convicts your heart of sin, is He, that is God, calling for repentance?

I'm typically using the NIV unless otherwise specified.

You're pretty funny. You pick your favorite translation (not misleading) and then explain it away. - lol

It says, "the free gift came upon all men", but then you ask, "What does Peter say we must do to receive the free gift?" Nothing. It already CAME upon all men. Hello?

As if to say, "It's a FREE gift; here are the conditions..." I thought you said it was free. ??? (free means NO strings attached)
