Here is the only quote that I can find from Abbot in that article:

"I know in advance this is going to dramatically slow traffic from Mexico into Texas. It is a byproduct of cartels crossing the border from Mexico into Texas,” Abbott said. "Cartels use vehicles, many of them dangerous commercial trucks, to smuggle immigrants, deadly fentanyl and other illegal cargo into Texas and onto our roadways.”

Texas will send migrants to D.C. and expand vehicle inspections at the border, Abbott says | Houston Public Media

I already said that I question the veracity of your source.

Can you show the quote to me?

Gov. Greg Abbott’s plan to bus migrants to Washington, D.C., will be voluntary

The migrants would have to show documentation that they had already been processed by DHS. Many immigration advocates have noted that providing transportation services for asylum-seekers to reach their final destination is something the state should invest in

And my in laws listen to fox news. That is where I heard it first so I checked a few articles.

I also read several articles. None of the articles since he backtracked say he is sending illegals.

Your quote from my article does not say he is sending illegals.

I am sure details need to be worked out. If it were me I would give those illegally here the option of jail in Texas or being bused to Washington D.C.

Food prices won't even come close to doubling; but gas prices could drop significantly if there were no more illegals competing for it at the pump.
You are still failing at economics. Oil prices are global. The lack of immigrants would not lower gas prices. And yes, it would likely double prices of many fruits and vegetables. A fifteen dollar an hour starting wage is the standard for even working at a much preferred job such as McDonald's or Burger King. Coddled city kids would likely have much poorer production than immigrants. And at a much higher cost.

In other words, a free ride to D.C. It appears the op fell for the hyperbole.

The governor's office clarified that the program is completely voluntary for migrants and would happen only after they had been processed and released by the Department of Homeland Security. And in addition to buses, Abbott also ordered the state to charter flights to transport migrants to the nation's capital. You're assuming they'd be prisoners. They're being transported to various parts of the country and released. That's hardly being a prisoner.
No, that is not an assumption. You would need to show that states are allowed to do that with former prisoners. You appear to be making the assumption that Texas can take such an action against the wishes of those, in your case, former prisoners. And I am making no assumption here. Let's see if you can figure it out.

The ACLU stepped in and the opposition says it is illegal to take them without permission. Texas governor announces ‘enhanced’ commercial truck inspections at border - El Paso Matters
So as I said, if it has to be voluntary give them the choice of jail in Texas or a free bus ride to Washington D.C. What the Biden administration is doing is destroying small towns in Texas by secretly moving illegals which can more than double the population of these Texas towns. No way can give proper care be provided to them.

"With a historic wave of illegal aliens set to cross the southern border this spring, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has a plan to make the Biden administration deal with the consequences of its own border policies.

Abbott announced on Wednesday that the state will charter buses of illegal immigrants directly to Washington, D.C." Full article:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Announces Plan to Charter Buses of Illegal Aliens to Washington, DC

I think other states should pitch in, perhaps donate resources to help because this is a national problem. We have seen what jihadists have done in the Ukraine, how many will cross our border we don't know. With Central American countries also releasing prisoners that end up in the United States this is a problem that needs to be addressed now.

All sane countries do not allow illegals or if they come in then they are deported

What’s up with the USA? I really don’t understand it, though I hear this on and on for years. It’s like some kind of madness

I figured it out. You just put up a big smokescreen by making a bunch of statements that aren't even in line with what we're talking about. Specifically, "prisoners".

What appears to be madness is simply a methodical way of tearing down the country and the systems that govern it in order to then look like the saviour by coming up with ways to rebuild it to their own liking. In this case, it's called "The Great Reset".

Here is the updated press release excerpt from the governor's office along with a link to the full release:
"Governor Abbott announced additional strategies being deployed immediately to secure the border. DPS and the Texas Military Department (TMD) are preparing additional boat blockades, deploying razor-wire at low-water crossings and high-traffic areas, and installing container blockades to stem the flow of illegal crossings. Additionally, TMD will begin the first phase of mass-migration rehearsals this week, and all DPS troopers and specially trained Texas National Guard soldiers will be given riot gear in case of violence among caravans and migrants."

Can someone please explain
1. What is an Illegal alien?
2. How is Biden at the federal level allowing illegal aliens into the country?
3. If they are allowed in and to stay, then why are they still considered illegal?
4. If illegal aliens aren't allowed in, then would Abbot bussing them in be considered smuggling.

1. Someone who crosses over the border and evades Border Patrol to be in the country without going through the legal process.

2. By implementing policies (such as stopping border wall construction) and making it more difficult for Border Patrol to do their job. Also, saying that they're welcome to come over the border when he became president didn't help. Ending Title 42 will be still another invitation. Now Texas has to be ready for the flood that will be coming as a result. But, that's just joe. It's what he does.

3. They are being allowed to stay by authorities that are ignoring our laws. No different than prosecutors who refuse to prosecute thieves, even though theft is illegal. It's still illegal.

4. It's closer to "trafficking". Other states have been doing it as well. The illegals should simply be blocked from entering the country, and deported if caught being here already.

Thanks for answering my questions.
Your answer to 1. seems reasonable. (Although I find it weird that USA calls them aliens. Aliens are little green men with large bald heads, big eyes and spindly fingers)

2. By implementing policies (such as stopping border wall construction) and making it more difficult for Border Patrol to do their job. Also, saying that they're welcome to come over the border when he became president didn't help. Ending Title 42 will be still another invitation. Going by this link
Modes of Entry for the Unauthorized Migrant Population
About half of the illegals entered USA legally but then overstayed. So they crossed the borders legally at an airport or a border crossing point.
Somewhat more than half, entered the country illegally. Some evaded customs and immigration inspectors at ports of entry by hiding in vehicles such as cargo trucks. Others trekked through the Arizona desert, waded across the Rio Grande or otherwise eluded the U.S. Border Patrol.
So many of these also came through the approved border points, where there would never have been a wall.
So it doesn't seem that USA has an open boarder policy. The illegals are still illegals, and they either overstay or they sneak in. Biden and his admin are not forcing the border states to let them in.

3. They are being allowed to stay by authorities that are ignoring our laws. No different than prosecutors who refuse to prosecute thieves, even though theft is illegal. It's still illegal.
For those that come in via the Southern border, and stay in Texas, it seems that it would be the burden of the Texas authorities (not Biden and his admin or federal resources) to deal with them if they come across them. And this would mean perhaps deporting them???

4. It's closer to "trafficking". Other states have been doing it as well. The illegals should simply be blocked from entering the country, and deported if caught being here already.
So if Abbot were to do this then he would be committing a crime?
It seems that Abbot is merely asserting his first amendment right to free speech and saying stuff as a matter of political theatre than actually admitting to crimes????

Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution states:
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence." Additionally, federal law requires that those here illegally, even those seeking asylum, must be detained while they are being processed. Joe Biden has violated his oath of office not just by neglecting his duty under the Constitution and federal law, but by actually aiding and abetting illegals by transporting them to locations in the U.S. instead of detaining them.
This is why Biden will be impeached about nine months from now. If the border czar is convicted along with him the office of the presidency would fall upon the Speaker of the House.
