Ok 5.

1) God has always encouraged me in my times of deepest need. He continues to encourage me now that things are good.

2) He is a miraculous God, He has performed many miracles for me, healing, prophecy, and others.

3) Knowing God, I know that as the bible says He "is love", and want us to love others.

4) He is a forgiving God, merciful, slow to anger etc. He wants us to be forgiving.

5) I know I will have a home in heaven when I die, this gives me confidence, I don't fear, I know God is bigger than any situation we face in this life.

Too many gods and spirits in my life to ignore them.

Have you seen them?

I feel that my life makes more sense if I don't limit my explanations to what can be proven scientifically. I think there is more to life than just that side.

The reason I stopped believing in God's and spirits wasn't because I decided to limit myself to the scientifically provable, it's because there wasn't good reason to believe in them.

Yeah sorry, that was bad term. "Scientific materialism" would possibly have been the correct term in that case.

English is not my first language so I mess up with terms fairly often when I go in direct translation - mode.

Ok no worries. I won't press further into this subject at this stage; thanks for the tidbit.

Fair enough. :)

I'd be interested in hearing about the "gods and spirits" too. Even a quick list.

Yes, at least in some sense. I mean, when someone doesn't have a physical body, seeing it might not be excactly same thing as seeing something that does have a physical form.

It might be that the way it appeared, is not it's actual form. And they can appear and disappear, so they're not there in a same way that physical things are. I'm not sure if seeing a non-physical thing counts as proper seeing in way you mean it.

They haven't appeared to me in a way that they took physical body and I could touch them, if thats what you mean.

I see. Not believing is likely the right choice if there is no reason.

Are you certain of that Jack ?

Heb 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

That is simple. Because Christianity is the closest religion to us.

What does cultural familiarity have to do with the truth of its claims?

Our God showed Himself to people hundreds of times in the Old Testament and He became flesh and dwelt among us in the New Testament, dying for our sins, dying so we can be saved. Isn't that worth believing?

It depends on whether there is a reason to believe it.

Is the only God that has showed to us, people saw Him, touched Him, killed Him, so I would rather trust in Him than in every other Hindu god which existence hasn't been proven (historically) or in the muslim Allah, the only God that did something for us, the greatest sacrifice, was Christ.

You still haven't answered my question. Once again, you've just re-articulated what you already believe.

I'm not certain of anything, but as far as I can tell, I haven't. Would be nice to have angels as visitors tho.

Useful for spiritual inspiration, yes. Word of God, no.

For me that is. If they are Word of God for someone else, I can live with that.

Ah ok. I'll remember this for future reference concerning our discussion of scripture. We have no base point in this area, though.

Why does it have to be an either-or situation? You can believe something without being perfectly certain that it must be the case.

Sure you can Archaepteryx, but then how could you defend such a belief whole heartedly ? Also the belief I'm speaking about is certainty/ strong belief, which is the Biblical faith and my personal experience. Strong belief is certain/hot, not undecided/luke warm etc.

It has to be either/or from Jesus' perspective, because the stakes are so high.

(I will warn you again that our communications will be short if you hop onto the merry go round, again. Let's try to avoid this eh )
