No problem.

I just couldn't understand why the topic was so important to him and was challenging him to explain why all the rhetoric and the was neccessary and why he was trying so hard to persuade the advisers and others and all.

(Note: that by "rhetoric" I am referring to technical speech and linguistics terminology. IE: an argument or a statement with strong language using argument. "Rhetoric is the art of using language as a means to persuade"-Rhetoric - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Not 'rhetoric' in the derogatory sense of meaningless jargon. I just want to clarify my use of that word. It is the best word for what I am saying when it is defined correctly.)

That's odd. We faced significant opposition from a few members of the teen area when we brought up having a CO area :/

yea i remember that... I was on the side that supported the change but...

The teens were peaceful in there protests... and that is a good thing and how things should be done., teh hacking that happens is inexcusable but i still do not see why we are all being punished, and why to appease parents the decision is to give the teens time to get happy on another forum that does not have a christian background or mods with a good reputation.

Ok, we're going to need you guys to decide on something. We can go with ages up to 19, but that will have to include no main area. If we go to 18, we can still have the main area for all to interact. We will not be having any ages older than 19 left in Teens. And a main forum for all discussion can't happen if the age goes to 19. This is a firm, so there's no debate on it. But there is a decision that needs made on which you all would prefer when faced with the two options: up to 18 only, main forum can exist for chit-chat and games. Up to 19, no main forum.

ETA: I'm aware this won't be a popular notion. But if we don't get any feedback on which you'd rather have, we will have to make the decision ourselves after talking to your staff.

Not trying to be awkward.. just wondering why 19 year olds need to be excluded from 'light chat and games'? It seems very arbitrary to cut off a group of people who are still teenagers..

Thank you! Precisely what I was wondering.

The reason is because of college/young adults. They want to make the clear distinction between the two. Yes at 18 and 19 you are technically still a teenager, but you've also started making the transition into college and your young adulthood. At 18 you are considered an adult by law in the US and younger (possibly?) in other countries. I think at 18 you can say your goodbyes, and 19 you need to have advanced into Young Adulthood as well as being induced in college enough to have to move on from the Teens World.

Because sometimes you have to compromise on things and that's one we came up with.

ETA: Meant as a general "you", encompassing all of us- staff, parents, teen users, etc.

There's another option I have thought of. This is a sucky vote. You either vote to oust those over age 19, or you vote not to have a common area with your friends. I wouldn't want to vote in public.

What I can do, is through the Admin panel, it's technically possible to see who has voted in a private poll. I can guarantee you i've never used it before except on my own test poll. I don't think any advisor has ever used it. I'm not even sure who all *can* use it. But if you would rather keep your votes private and have me keep tabs that way, we can do that.

If you'd like that, just give me a rep saying yes. If I get five, I'll make the poll private and we'll start over. If you don't want it, we'll just keep the vote public to make sure only those effected by teen policies are voting.
