I agree with what the Bible teaches with the Holy Spirit. I have found if I read the Bible on my own account I am as blind as ever and pride sneaks its way in. I fell for that many times and I had to learn to walk with the Spirit when reading the Bible. I'm telling you it's a major difference!
The letter of the Law kills but the Spirit brings life:2 Corinthians 3:4-6 That is the meaning of that verse.

As for the OP. My sister has a tattoo of a dove on her back. She did not have a conviction of not getting it, but I do. I respect God's wishes on that for us both.

Tattoos are like money, neither good or bad. I've seen tattoos that make me cringe and others that uplifted me. I once got to know a guy with many facial tattoos and even fake horns. Looking at him was hard, but he had repented and in his heart he was as pure as any of us.

I personally do not nor would get tattoos.
There is no mention of tattoos in the NT.
That being said there are other verses that would imply that getting a tattoo isn't proper.

I personally do not judge anyone whatsoever who does have or decides to get a tattoo (s).

I never had the desire to get one and I personally believe that God does not want us to mark our bodies.

Bottom line, us children of God who will go to Heaven , will receive a glorified body that is incorruptible without blemish.

Amen!
All glory be to God now and forever.

This is also how I see it. My tattoo helps prevent me from self-harming. Some people get tattoos of verses that speak to them.
I'm glad to hear that that man is a follower of Christ now and he's walking in the light! You cannot judge someone by their outward appearance

I don't think we should be too religious, but be more relational to Christ. Religion can become harmful.
I hear you friend.
Religion is mans "way" to reach God.
Jesus Christ is God's way to reach man.

Tradition and rituals have the capability to put one into spiritual bondage.

I doubt God will have a problem with you getting a massive cross or something that reminds you of him. One must take context for the OT after all. Tattoos back then were of a different nature (a pagan religious one), unlike today when they are merely for aesthetic or emotional purposes.

From Leviticus, you can see that God states to not print any marks upon one's body.

Tattoos in society are associated with worldly people we christian's should be separate from.
LOL.

Piercings are also associated with worldly people so should one also not pierce their ears?

You don’t speak for god. All I see you do here is condemn other people, as if you were better than everyone else here.

We have clear cut scripture that says not to mark ones body (tattoos). It is not up for interpretation, it's not prophecy, it's clear cut scripture.

But scripture also says not to wear clothes of mixed materials.

There is ALSO direct words of Jesus to cut off your right hand and pluck out your eye if it causes you to sin.

Yet you cling to "do not mark your body"

So did Jesus directly command us to mark our body through disfigurement or are we to look at intent of law rather than the letter of the law?

Jesus is trying to make a point how bad it is in hell.

Not only here but also in my thread about "government".

I believe Jesus Christ fulfilled all the laws of the Old Testament for us. I believe we are no longer under law but ruled by mercy and grace via Jesus Christ. I personally don’t want a tattoo, but if you like one, get one, it has nothing to do with your salvation. Your faith in Jesus Christ's perfection does though. If not by grace, but of works, grace ceases to be grace.

Jesus is trying to make a point how bad it is in hell.
Actually, He is pointing out how seriously we are to treat sin.

That it is better to separate yourself from ANYTHING that brings sin into ones life.

But IF you want to look at the letter of law such as (You shall not mark your body) then why do you look at the underlying meaning of what Christ said? Why not letter of the law that came direct from His lips?

Either you look and search for intent through ALL the laws or you simply chose to love the black and white of the law itself.
