I have heard a few arguements for evolution vs creationism.
something that evolutionists seem to say is when emotions are bought up, is that emotions are just natures way of ensuring certain things happen.
for example,

love is just a feeling designed to make sure we get a mate, raise our kids to maturity and ensure the suvival of our species.
basically all emotions revolve around this sort of thing.

if that's true,
then somebody please explain to me where sunsets fit in!

almost everybody enjoys sunsets, we think thier pretty and most people will stop to enjoy one at one time or another.

the thing is sunsets shouldn't be beutiful if evolutionsts are right,
they should be a thing of horror and fear!
they should sybolise, minumin safe time to reach safe dwelling before the preditors come out!

thoughts on this?

I think that your conclusion that 'everybody enjoys sunsets' might be a bit of a stretch.

Perhaps you should ask a group of people who are in the presence of predators if they enjoy sunsets before you jump to the conclusions you have.

Are you sure that to them they don't symbolize a 'minimum safe time to reach safe dwelling'?

The ability to enjoy has an evolutionary advantage. As a byproduct of that ability, we also enjoy other (non-advantage) things.

just as the ability to be creative (and to enjoy creation) has an advantage: able to invent cool tools, shelters, etc. A side product of that ability to be creative is being able to make lame paintings.

Hey according to evolutionary theory. We should love Sunsets. We should look upone them with amazement and joy.

We built fires to keep light and heat after the warm rays of the sun abandoned us.
We built homes with candles and eventually electricity to further aid us.
We told stories of the days accomplishents around fire and thus enabled communication.

The power of the sun and the beautiful sunsets should be looked at with awe. They drove society to the point it is now.

Without the dark, we would know no light.
Without the rain, we would know no rainbows.
Without the sunset, we would know no sunrises.

well shouldn't we ALL be subject to this fear?
Man has only been suposedly able to control his eviroment for a relatively short time, shouldn't we still have this fear left over from millions of years of "evolution"

things being left over from mans evolution seems to be a popular theme.

also remember that many things like fear and enjoyment aren't genetic.

IIRC, most phobias are caused by bad experiences. It's not such a stretch that enjoyment is also based on experiences. Someone who grew up with ladies wearing belly-button-piercings might find them enjoying to look at, someone who didn't grew up with them (or who grew up with parents calling the things repulsive from a young age) might find them not enjoying to look at.

Your assumption that sunsets must be viewed from outside a safe dwelling is incorrect.

Who says we don't have fear? Kids are automatically more afraid of spiders than other things when they're born, spiders being a dangerous creature in the millennia previous.

Fear of the dark is still there. Your connection to sunsets is what is in question here.

I could equally assert that man finds sunsets beautiful because they represent that last part of the day prior to dark so man longs for it to last longer and never end.

That is why everyone thinks sunsets are beautiful.

See how easy it is to just make stuff up and assert it is true.

According to Young Earth Creationists - those who take Genesis literally - sunsets should be scary and feared. Why would God make his creation enjoy the dissapearance of the light and the oncomming darkness. Throughout the bible God is refered to as light, and evil as darkenss. The onset of darkness should be equated with the presence of evil and a sunset should be scary and ugly to humans- if Genesis is literally true.

Yes, but enjoyment must have evolved with us for us to be able to experience it!
so how did enjoyment evolve then?
what purpose does enjoyment serve then?

Oh, let me guess!

it's stress releif!;)
