Sabbath:

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I would just like to share some of my thoughts about the Sabbath with you.

As I've said before I grew up going to church on a Sunday not aware of why, I had been told that we didn’t have to keep the Sabbath and had believed it but had never studied it as such. But after myself and family searched for the truth on whether we should keep it or not we came to the conclusion we should be. So I became a seventh day Sabbath keeper in March 2005.

Some people would like to make out that the sabbath is a horrible burden and that we our under a yoke of bondage to keep it. But I've discoverd myself that the sabbath is not that at all it's a blessing. Sabbath is my favourite day of the week that I look forward to worshiping together at church with other believers, studying the bible, prayer, it has also been a good time for good christian fellowship and to grow in my relationship with God and other believers. It has been a great day to focus on God and to devote my time to Him. Yes we should worship God everyday of the week and every day I set aside time for prayer and reading my bible but ive found on normal weekdays there is always other things that need to be done, but when it comes to keeping sabbath u have a whole day set aside for God were there isnt those other distractions. I dont see what greater way I can show how much I love God than to give him the day that he asked me to to give him my time. I consider it a blessing to have found out the truth about sabbath and to be keeping it. I find it really saddening that so many people are unaware of the truth about the sabbath because they to if they new the truth about the sabbath could find it a delight. I know that the whole ten commandments are a law of love the first four how to love God the last six how to love people you might ask how does keeping the sabbath show that u love God? sabbath involves us giving up our time to spend it with God its a day for Holy convocations and worship & rest. When you love someone and they ask you to do something for them that may require your time and you have other things to do your still going to do what they asked you to if you love them. God new that we are only human creatures that at times can like to go, go, go but God new that our bodies are designed to have rest and need it.

1Jo 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

I keep the Ten Commandments and they are far from grievous to me to keep them but they are a blessing they are were my Christian morals and values come from and they are for my benefit to keep, they are the guidelines that I need & that society needs in a world were sin abounds and morals decay.

God's ten commandment law of love is an eternal one which will be kept in heaven for all eternity to argue that it wont is to say that when we are in heaven we will be murdering, committing adultery and all other manner of sin. There is such a great attack on God's law why? it's the beautiful law that tells us how to love God and people. It's the ten commandments that shows God's Holy character.

Rom 16:26: God is Eternal - Psa 111:7-8: The law is Eternal
Luk 18:19: God is Good - Rom 7:12: The law is Good
Joh 4:24: God is Spiritual - Rom 7:14: The law is Spiritual
Deu 32:4: God is Just - Rom 7:12: The law is Just
Psa 145:17: God is Righteous - Psa 119:172: The law is Righteous
1 Joh 3:3: God is Pure - Psa 19:8: The law is Pure
Mat 5:48: God is Perfect - Psa 19:7: The law is Perfect
I Joh 4:8: God is Love - Rom 13:10: The law is Love
I Joh 1:5: God is Light - Prov 6:23: The law is Light
Psa 48:1: God is Great - Hos 8:12: The law is Great
Deu 32:4: God is Truth - Psa 119:142: The law is Truth
Isa 5:16: God is Holy - Rom 7:12: The law is Holy

Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Tuesday (day) ?
Tuesday after sunset - the Passover and "Lord's Supper"
Wednesday (day) - Jesus crucified - placed in tomb directly before sunset
Wednesday (night) - a High Sabbath (1st Day of the Days of Unleavened Bread)
Thursday (day) - Still a High Sabbath; by sunset, Jesus has been entombed 24 hrs
Thursday (night) - Begins a Preparation Day for the Weekly Sabbath
Friday (day) - Still Preparation Day; by sunset, Jesus has been entombed 48 hrs
Friday (night) - Weekly Sabbath has begun
Saturday (day) - Sabbath; by sunset, Jesus will have been entombed 72 hrs or 3 days and 3 nights

Joh 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Joh 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

That Sunday - early morning - Mary Magdalene finds the stone rolled away and the sepulchre open. Jesus was gone. Jesus had already risen before she got there. The Lord of the Sabbath had risen 72 hours after he had been placed in the earth, just before sunset on the Sabbath.

Luke 23:54-56 The women attended the body on the Sabbath (Friday night or Saturday morning) Luke 26:1-3 and on the first day of the week (Sunday) they came to the tomb and it was empty.
Burkitt's commentary: The Lord of life, who was put to death upon the Friday, was buried in the evening of the same day; and his holy body rested in the silent grave all the next day, being the Jewish sabbath, and some part of the morning following. Thus rose he again the third day, according to the scriptures, neither sooner nor
later; not sooner, lest the truth of his death should have been questioned that he did not die at all; not
later, lest the faith of his disciples should have failed.

Luk 23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. (Wednesday afternoon)
Luk 23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on. (Preparation before the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread Tuesday PM - Wednesday till sunset - High Sabbath from Wednesday after sunset till sunset Thursday)
Luk 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. (Went to see the body the day after that High Sabbath - Thursday PM - till sometime Friday afternoon)
Luk 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments (until sunset Friday); and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment (from Friday sunset till Saturday sunset - 72 hours has ended).
Luk 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Luk 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
Luk 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. (He was ALREADY risen, at the end of 72 hours, or 3 days and 3 nights)

That commentary, as most commentaries do, simply repeats the common beliefs (and`misconceptions) of mainstream Chritianity.

Whether or not Jesus rose on on any day does not matter. G-d made the Sabbath and it was on the seventh day of the week which on our calendar is Saturday.

Deu 5:14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

Isa 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
Isa 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

G-d bless,
Dan
