If You are here reading me, its because you are in bondage within the typical cycle of "sinning and repenting" that most Christian live within, as their life also.

If you really want to stop this vicious cycle, then you do it not by trying to stop, but by understanding why trying to stop is causing you to sin more.

Here is what i teach my Students to understand about the FAILURE of "striving against sin".

Do you recall that Jesus was popping blood vessels in His beautiful face, in the Garden of Gethsemane?
He was bleeding from blood vessels popping from the STRAIN Holy Jesus was under.
What was the Strain. ? It was two-fold. One, He was struggling with His own will...>"not my will but THINE be done"... But moreso He was struggling against His human nature., as for Jesus, sin was not the usual, it was harder to face, because He had to face it as the 2nd Adam, and could not fail., could not fall.
So, He was straining to not fail.
Do you see the result of GOD in the Flesh, striving to be perfect?
Blood vessels were BREAKING from the STRAIN.

So, if God is going through that to be perfect, do you think you have a chance to be perfect, by striving in the same way to not commit a carnal deed?
God bled from His face trying to remain perfect,...... you dont have a chance.
So, that is why you are sinning. You are trying by SELF EFFORT to strive to stop.
    = FAIL.
And that is why you keep doing committing works of the FLESH.

Ive written many Threads on this Forum that deal with your issue.
You should find all my Threads, and study them, as they can really help you.

    Notice something..
The sin is in your head before you do it with your body.
    True?
    Sure.
So, its a head issue, that causes the body to purse the Lust.
This is "sin consciousness", and God has resolved this with Christ's "one time sacrifice" that is our "eternal Redemption".
So, the cure is finished, but the application is just like being saved, you have to BELIEVE in a certain way, the right belief.

To resolve the sinning, which is the deed of the body, you have to solve your head, as this is where you believe wrong or believe right.
What you are doing, is trying to resist what your LUST wants, but the problem isn't your LUST.
So, you are resisting the wrong thing.... the wrong way.

To stop the deed of sin, you have to resolve the mind of sin.
You have to resolve "sin consciousness" that is already resolved, but not until you have the right MIND of belief that allows you to live in the Grace of God, that is your freedom and Victory.

When you solve the mind, you solve the body doing the deed.
    Follow me?
To resolve the mind of sin, is not by praying or hoping you can stop, or resisting sin.
ANd you can only stop the mind of sin if you are truly born again.
Without this, you cant stop sinning. And when i say born again i dont mean water baptized and confirmed.
I mean a day that you can remember that you went to the CROSS and trusted Christ and received Him by FAITH into your heart and into your Life.
Do you have that day?...."well, behold, i have my confirmation day".
    NO.
That wont do it. Im talking about you and GOD and CHRIST and the Holy Spirit convicting you, and that CROSS drawing you to it.... and you kneeling before it knowing you are hell bound, lost, and need JESUS TO SAVE YOU, and God hears your heart cry and cleans you with Christ's Holy SHED BLOOD and you KNOW IT. !!
Do you have that 2nd Birth day on a Calendar?
    Get that first.
If you do, then here is how you stop sinning.

First, stop worrying about it. Worrying about it and feeling condemned only allows the Law to empower your flesh to want more SIN.
2nd, decide to believe that Jesus has All your sin. Colossians 2:13 Including tomorrows, and 10 yrs from now. (works of the flesh).
Decide to believe that the Blood of Jesus will keep you CLEAN, no matter what, as this is real Faith in Christ.
So....You have to start there....because until you actually understand that its ONLY the blood of Jesus and nothing you can do, that Keeps you in perfect peace with God, you will never be able to stop sinning.
See, its how and what you believe is how you are freed or not.

Why do you (sin) "commit works of the FLEH".... If you are saved?
Its because you are under the law, when you are supposed to be in God's GRACE in your FAITH and BELIEF. And you are not.
When you believe wrong, you give the Law authority to energize your mind of the flesh, and you will have a strong consciousness of sin that you can't get rid of, by trying to stop, repenting, or praying, etc.
THAT MIND is away from God's Grace, yet, you are still God's child.
And in that place of wrong believing, the Law will cause you to sin, because its the striving to not sin, that empowers the Law to keep your "mind of the flesh", your carnal mind, in control of your literal behavior.

The instant that you come to believe that you are always at peace with God, and are always kept saved by the Blood of Jesus as the GRACE OF GOD...(Right Believing).. you will find that everything beautifully changes within your walk of Faith as you are finally finding real faith in Christ, as the true understanding of God's Grace.

All that or you could just really repent of sin...permanently.
    That makes you an ex-sinner.

    Not in your will.
But in your faith., in your understanding..

see, all things with God are SPIRITUAL.
So, to "work out your salvation", is to understand that this is related only to believing..
As its by right believing that you work it out, and its by wrong believing that you mess it up.
You can't lose your salvation, but you can "ship wreck" your Salvation.
So, if you are sinning and confessing and repenting, and this is for years, then your salvation, is still eternal, but your walk of faith, your discipleship, is ruined.
Real Discipleship is not to live in the "sinning and repenting" baby christian lifestyle.
You are to grow up from that infant christianity and mature into "VICTORY", and "walking in the Spirit".
If you are still in your baby diapers, still on the bottle, still in the crib, spiritually, you have NOT grown in Grace , as proven by "sinning and repenting, habitually.

What you "do" does not solve the sinning and repenting issue.
Its what you BELIEVE that becomes your freedom, as this breaks the bondage.

    Discipleship follows Salvation.

Salvation is not us doing something, its God doing something for us, because we have given Him our Faith.
God sees our Faith in our heart, and accepts this to give us the '"new birth" = Born again.
    "Justification BY Faith".

After we are born again, we then begin our discipleship as our "walk" as our "present your body a living Sacrifice".

Salvation is what GOD does for us......and our Discipleship is what we do BECAUSE of what God has done for us, already. (Salvation)

OK then, belief without discipleship is unproven belief.
Men can say they are saved all they want, but if the discipleship is absent, you gotta ask 'What are you saved from?".

    We are saved from Hell.
We are saved from our sin....the judgement due it, in eternity.

And sure, after we are saved, (born again) we are to live a life of discipleship....because we are saved.
Not to be saved, or to stay saved.
Salvation is God taking you into His family, into His Spirit....He does this.
Our discipleship has nothing to do with the "new Birth".

In that case, the ones NOT walking in discipleship are NOT saved.

If one chooses to rebel against discipleship, there is no manifestation of having been saved.

Our discipleship is because of our rebirth.
Those not born of God will not walk in discipleship, as their old nature precludes it.
It takes a divine nature to want to walk after the Divine One.

Hi Behold! Well two things that need to be further discussed.

    1. Jesus was not struggling with His own human will! He was steadfast in going to the cross! Asking HIs Father to be spared the cross was not an issue for Jesus! What was the struggle then? Jesus asked if a "cup" could be avoided! When one looks at cup when it is symbolic, it ALWAYS refers to Gds wrath being poured out on a person, or place! What jesus was asking to have removed is suffering the entire wrath of God for sin! The eternal Son who never knew a moment when He was not in perfect fellowship with the Father was going to become sin and have Gods wrath pooured and Gods presence removed from HIm! The first 3 hours Jesus suffered the wrath of man, the next three hours (after it grew pitch dark) He suffered the wrath of God! No created being (even Satan) will ever endure the god forsakeness Jesus endured on our behalf! He endured in the infinite depths of agony what mankind has to endure in the lake of fire in the eternity of time! All for love!

    2. When people sin, it is not because they are under the law! The Mosaic Law (which is what is spoken of) has been rendered null! The reson why we sin, is that even though God has declared us perfected already, we still are growing in what God sees us and is making us to be!

We sin simply because sometime we choose teh flesh over the Spirit orare doing something God has yet to convict an individual that it is sin.

God is the one in control of our life. And yes confessing 70X7 is okay if one is struggling! God forgives every time and promises to cleanse us!

Many believers conflate, they overlay, they do not or are not able to recognize that Salvation is what God did on THE Cross, and discipleship is what we are to do after "the finished work of Jesus on the Cross" has become our "justified by Faith". "The Gift of Righteousness", = Salvation.

    Reader,..

Jesus was indeed having a terrible struggle within Himself, regarding His humanity.
He did ask God to let the Judgment pass.
He did pop blood vessels in His face regarding His inner Struggle.
Help was sent to Him from Heaven, to give Him some comfort in all this agony that was already begun even before He was arrested and made more bloody.

The reason you sin, is because you understand that the Law is removed, but you do not understand that its dominion is able to empower your flesh, through your sin consciousness, to make you want to sin.
You give the Law this authority when you walk in the flesh.

There is Walking in the Spirit, and there is walking in the Flesh.
In both cases, this is not talking about the Physical realm....."the FLESH" is not your body.
Its your MIND. ITS HOW and WHAT YOU BELIEVE .... And walking in the flesh, is to walk in the CARNAL MIND of wrong believing.
When you do this, you can't believe right, regarding Grace, therefore you can't have the mind of Christ, which is your Victory.
So, you are sinning and repenting and confessing, not because you are growing, but because of your wrong believing.
Sinning and confessing is the life of a carnal baby christian who has not grown at all.
And you will continue to sin and repent, until you come into the right mind, reader.
That mind is not the one that runs to 1 John 1 to try to hide behind it so that you can keep sinning.
That right mind is to agree with "if you walk in the SPIRIT YOU SHALL NOT SIN".. "Shall not commit works of the FLESH".

    All you say is true!

But if you are suggesting sinless perfection for ones lifetime, While theoretically possible, no one has attained to that stature for any appreciable length of time!

We will when we go home. Is that excusing sin? Of course not!

We are all growing in grace and conformation to Jesus! But until we die, God will continue to reveal areas of our life that have not yet been yielded to jesus. Teh deeper we walk, the more intense sin we see in our life! Why? Because it is the attitude and inclinations of our heart and flesh!

I desire to never sin again! But to say that when one sins and acknowledges their sin (1 JOhn 1:9) is living a carnal life is just plain wrong!

Yes as long as we walk in the Spirit we will never sin! but let me know when you have doen that for a year and never failed for even a nanosecond!

So you say that "WE HAVE TO GIVE HIM OUR FAITH"
You say that MAN initiates the salvation process,
that MAN is Sovereign in salvation.

But the Bible says that "faith" is not OURS... it is a GIFT OF GOD.
The Bible says GOD is Sovereign and GIVES FAITH to those who
He "chooses" or "elects"... not based on some "work" they do,
based ONLY on His Good Pleasure... and that is the ONLY way
to have saving FAITH... Who do we believe? You or the Bible?

    Eph 2:8-9
    For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that [faith is] not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

You are preaching the false "works gospel" called
    the BOASTER'S GOSPEL.

The BOASTER'S GOSPEL says that MAN is Sovereign and
MAN initiates the salvation process by doing some good work.
(in your case the good work is to "GIVE HIM OUR FAITH")

And then, when God SEES what a good work that man has done
God is then obligated to save us. So MAN initiates the process
(Man is sovereign) and God is obligated to finish the process.

The BOASTER'S GOSPEL says "DO WHAT I DID TO BE SAVED"
If you just "do what I did" then God MUST save you from hell.
MEN have the power to MAKE God save them... just decide
to "do what I have done". And you will be saved.

Of course that is pure heresy.
And the Bible teaches no such thing.

The Bible is very clear, men are born DEAD and cannot save
themselves... any more that Lazarus could save himself.

Since the beginning of the church there have been TWO gospels.
The True Gospel teaches that all men are born spiritually DEAD
and they cannot seek God [Rom 3:10-12] NO MAN seeks God,
    no, not even one.

So God must "choose" or "elect" who He will have mercy on,
and (sometime during that person's life) God will "draw" that
man to Christ and Christ will lose NONE the Father gives Him.
John 6 teaches NO MAN can come to Christ unless the Father
first "draws" him and ALL MEN the Father draws "shall come"
and Jesus will lose NONE of "His Sheep". God is Sovereign.

The second "works" gospel is the BOASTER'S GOSPEL that says
MAN is NOT born spiritually DEAD that man has enough life in him
to decide to do some "work" to save himself. And when God SEES
that good work that man has done... God is obligated to save him.
In the Boaster's Gospel MAN is sovereign and MAN initiates his own
salvation... that is why he can BOAST about his good decision.

While the True Gospel says NO MAN will seek God.
The Boaster's Gospel says SOME MEN will seek God.

The True Gospel says God is Sovereign and initiates salvation.
The Boaster's Gospel says Man is Sovereign and initiates the process.

One of these Gospels is the narrow way that leads to life.
One of these Gospels is the BROAD WAY leading to destruction.

The vast majority of Christians follow the Boaster Gospel.
The vast majority of Christians follow the BROAD WAY.

Because MANY are called ["called" by hearing the Gospel]
But FEW are chosen ["chosen" or "elected" to become saved]

If what you say is true then Paul is a liar.
Paul said "If you walk in the SPIRIT, you SHALL NOT SIN".. "SHALL NOT Commit works of the Flesh".

So, if you are sinning and repenting, then your understanding of the finished work of Christ is not correct.

The Gospel is given, then "faith comes by HEARING and HEARING by the WORD OF GOD"... This is the Holy Spirit enlightening....and then if the person responds in FAITH, God then responds with SALVATION.

Paul said this......"if you walk in the Spirit, you will not sin". "will not commit works of the flesh".
If you are walking instead, in the flesh, you are repenting of carnal deeds, not sin.
"sin" is only in effect when there is the "dominion of the Law".
The born again, are this....>"Christ has redeemed us from the CURSE of the LAW".
That "curse" is the law's dominion that defined you as a sinner, when it had the authority to do so.
Christ has redeemed the born again from the Law's authority, and that is why Paul now title's carnal deeds as "works of the flesh".
These are the same deeds that were defined as SIN, but are now not defined as sin, because we the born again are under a NEW DOMINION, as we exist IN the Kingdom of God.
We are this...."you are not under the LAW, but under GRACE".

Grace is our dominion, and Grace does not define us as a sinner or our deeds as sin.
It can't because Christ has resolved our sin issue. Colossians 2:13.
This is why we will never face judgment for our sin, in Eternity.
This is why we meet God as FATHER and not as JUDGE.
This is why ROMANS 4:8 is in the NEW Testament.
