And that "admiration" comes in the forum of lawsuits, indictments, slander, assassination attempts......
I can see how all that would be hard to walk away from, especially if a bullet went where an assassin intended.
The point is that @rambot was speaking factually, and there's nothing wrong with learning facts.

What I believe is that if someone is a narcissist (malignant or otherwise), he wouldn't take a bullet and keep on campaigning, especially when another guy is waiting with another bullet to try to finish the job. A narcissist in Trump's position would realize he's got a lot of money already, and has already been to the top of the political world, and is now time to just sit back and relax in comfort and focus on himself at this point in his life

Narcissists are motivated by perceived self-image, not hedonism or rational self-interest.

Good gravy! Does the Left have some kind of think-tank that just makes up new terms on the fly, like every day?

"Sane-washing" .... that's a good one. I'm going to have to start using it. :ahah:
This goes with their other unreal ideas like Mansplaining, Manspreading, Toxic Mascullinity, White priviledge, White supremecy, gender normalizing and the like.

It is obvious to anyone with an IQ above room temperature.
"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"

Jesting or serious?

Speaking of John McCain, "“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said, “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Jesting or serious?

Let's see your credentials.
While I agree that only an expert can make a psychological / medical diagnosis, it is obvious to the layman that Mr Trump rambles and is often very incoherent

You don't need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

The better question is, are you jesting or serious? My comment was about another Trump quote, and it's impossible you don't know that, because my comment quoted you commenting on the same thing.

I spoke factually as well, but he didn't like it. I guess not all facts can be accepted by certain people. Definitions of words as laid out in the dictionary apparently being one of them.

You have to be a mind reader to know his motivations if you believe those are his motivations.

The same people who like to say that about Trump are quick to excuse the word salads by his opponent who won't even answer simple questions, even when asked by CNN or MSNBC reporters.

ok then let's stick with that. "When Trump said he could shoot someone on fifth avenue and he wouldn't lose a vote...""

That was a jest? I doubt it.

Aldebaran gave a response to this in post 97, and I agree with him. I really can't imagine how anyone could think that was serious.

But Trump wasn't talking about "how much support" he was getting.

He was talking about the DEPTH of devotion of the people who will vote for him. And yes, I TRULY do believe there are some people for whom that joke applies.

You think after a person walks around braggadociously with diapers on in support of a candidate is going to stop supporting him for any logical reason?

I don't think "everyone that votes for him" will do that. But yeah, I honestly do think there are people unhinged enough (and that deep into Trump) that they would continue to support him. You have to remember that Trump as president, Trump has been, and continues to undermine American institutions and traditions (or policies). But they don't get angry at him. They get angry FOR him. He has turned all these people against SO many things that those things don't

Really. If Trump DID shoot someone in 5th avenue, within minutes we would know that the shooter was a derranged lunatic who was coming after him/ was an angry illegal immigrant....all those dog whistle claims will start to come out. And it won't even matter if it's true.

And, just like every time before, people will buy it and people will excuse him.

Oh, he actually was. His exact quote according to CNN back in 2016 was, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters,”
If you want to know what he meant, why not listen to his own answer?

You talk of "unhinged" supporters who'd support him if he shot a man. You don't think the Harris side is even worse about that kind of thing? In two months we've had two people trying to shoot Trump themselves. You think they would care in the least if Harris shot someone?

And NEITHER of those shooters were ardent democrats or Harris supporters so I'm not sure how that's relevant.

And no. If Harris pulled out a gun and shot someone, no I really don't think that would happen.

You think they would care in the least if Harris shot someone?
Well, there are supporters on here you could ask, but no...I don't think so.

Now, with one caveat; It would depend on the stage in of the race. If Harris did it RIGHT now? I think there would be a lot of nose holding to get it done. I could see that happening for sure.

But Trump made his comment back in January of the election year.

Yeah. I NEVER take "I was just joking" as a rational. I have watched awful people do awful things and think they can say "they were joking" an hour later and think I am swayed. Even less so if after they provide evidence for their insult. We had this one fellow had the gall to called a rape victim a harlot. And then, go on to list and provide evidence for the ways she's a harlot.

He came back the next day saying he was joking. Logic would dictate that him explaining the joke would have explained why it would be funny to call her a harlot. Him giving reasons that it was his claim is true shows a rational person that he's not joking.

In his "I was just joking" CNN video he states "I was laughing. They were laughing we were all having good time".

But he was NOT laughing in the recordings (Frankly, he was ADAMANT and quite serious about his claim through this portion of his speech)...nor was his comment out of context, nor did he give any other signs nonverbal OR verbal that he was joking. And frankly, when I listen to the audience "laughter", it doesn't sound completely comfortable to me.

To be clear, I'm not arguing he WOULD shoot someone. Just that if he DID shoot someone, he believed he would not lose support.

We have to parse the semantics. He's saying he's joking about literally shooting someone and I'm pretty sure everyone got the analogy and some laughed because it's a funny analogy. But he is definitively saying that he's serious about people remaining loyal to him no matter what he does.

They were laughing at him. He was not laughing though. In fact, he sounds very sincere.
