Awkward moment . . . .

we have a new guy in our office whose last name is Greek. So yesterday I stopped to say hello and I asked him if he were Orthodox. His response? "No, no, I'm a Christian."

Wasn't expecting that!

So,, options are: A) A hardcore Fundagelical or, B) Despite the last name, equates Orthodox with being Jewish

That's kind of what I was thinking. My first thought is that maybe he was somehow cut off in his family line and he might think you meant Jewish.

Well, I was going to put it as "not having been zapped by the Hyper-Hellenic Mother Ship", like the majority of his landsmen

I’m pretty sure it’s A. He said his father is from Greece and his mother met him in Greece, so i’m thinking his mother is hard-core Protestant and maybe his dad wasn’t a faithful Orthodox.

The way he said “no I'm a Christian” it was like he thought I would be critical of Orthodoxy & he wanted to assure me he wasn’t. When I told him I was a convert to Orthodoxy he mentioned he’d been to the Greek parish here a couple of times & had a lot of friends there but he still made it clear he has no interest in it so I think he’s been raised with an anti-Orthodox attitude.

Dr. Pat's Orthodox Sunday School can't be accessed online anymore. It says their account has been suspended. I don't know why ... but I hope it's back soon. It was one of the few resources that I found.

I'll take chewy or crunchy. The important thing is lots of chips!

But the true master cookie baker makes them a bit crispy outside, a bit soft and chewy inside. Best of both worlds.
