Oh yes - indeed it was :)

The Greek Priest [ actual Greek] there was most interested in this Scot who was visiting - even more so when he discovered that the priest [ though GOA is not Greek ] I was visiting , and I had known each other for about 10 years :) Neither of us broke the news to him that I'm not Orthodox :)

Food was fantastic and I had my first greek coffee - that's very very different.

Ohhhh, Greek Festival!

Ours is coming in a couple of months. We start cooking in a few weeks, I hear.

I already did something as a practice ... I don't remember what it was called, but they were ground meat and spices that had been made into balls, and my job was to roll them into cylinders and wrap them in blanched grape leaves and make sure they were sealed.

I thought surely they were going to steam them since they were wrapped in leaves, but I was told they can be baked or boiled. Those got eaten at a party a week ago for the graduates.

Bacon for Pentecost? Hmmmm ..... sounds good. I've been eating too much bread + peanut butter and koliva for the past several days. It feels like fasting and meat or cheese sounds good!!!

The stuffed grape leaves? I usually call them "stuffed grape leaves" ;) (some call them dolmades)

Well as we go to Holy Myrrhbearers after that we can't be actually sampling much there :)

I'm really enjoying this visit - and sorry not saying where the Greek Festival was - my host does like his privacy and I'm not getting on the wrong side of him ;)

Awwww... Bring some ale, for the Monks! ;)

Then again, the brewery wasn't there yet, when I used to be there.
