Imperialism in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and James Joyce's "The Dead" (from Dubliners). It's difficult to find things that these two have in common, and after I turn the paper in I have to take the final! 50% of my grade in this class hangs on today.

Do yall know about Quinoa?

It's a tiny grain (technically a seed) , like Millet, that used to be frequently used by native central/south Americans. From what I've been told, it's basically a complete protein, and has a much higher % of protein than wheat does. It needs to be rinsed well to clean off a natural coating of a bitter tasting chemical, but then it cooks in 15 min, is similar to kasha or couscous, and is high in iron, magnesium, and of course all the lovely protein! It's gluten-free for you glut-meisters, and can be found in whole/bulk food sections of groceries or in natural food stores with some ease. Read all about it on wikipedia!

It's a miracle fasting food that will help you eat nutriously while you're refraining from animal products.

Being an artist I need to have slides of my work for entering it into competitions, applying for grants, etc. To get a digital file made into a slide costs $10 per picture, which is a bit too pricey for me. Therefore I have 2 Nikon 6006 SLRs (one for slides and one that I take pictures with). I love the 6006!

I agree you can't do everything with a digital. My hubby has an old Canon AE1 that is still working like a trooper. It is built like a tank. I also inherited my uncles camera - I forget what it is - but would love to try it out. In my art classes, we learned how to make prints with an old Polaroid, so I purchased an ancient one on eBay, and had taken some pictures with that - it still works great! But also with the Polaroid, just take the picture, roll out the film after a few seconds.. less than a minute ( I forget exactly, will have to check my notes) and place it on watercolor paper, and use a rubber roller and the print happens on the textured paper. There is an artist in San Francisco that does these with the large Polaroid, and does fantastic work.

Man, this is brutal... Oh, did you notice, chance of showers and thunderstorms again tonight... Yea, just like it has been for the past two weeks or so.

Last night I got ready for bed and almost passed out, so in the end hubby got a fold out bed out for me and put it up downstairs (which is nice and cool) and slept on the couch himself (very comfy couch) as it was just too warm upstairs (AC can't keep up).

Oh well, I'm almost done with the mountain of doom (aka laundry) and then I can actually do something 'fun'. I think I'm sending hubby to DQ when he comes home... I deserve it.
