Imperialism in Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and James Joyce's "The Dead" (from Dubliners). It's difficult to find things that these two have in common, and after I turn the paper in I have to take the final! 50% of my grade in this class hangs on today.

Good morning to those who need a "run away run away" smiley, to those who had nightmares last night, to those who quote creepy charismatics, to those who are driven nuts by their siblings, to tho who melt, to those who have internet access problems, to those who are succesful with guys and chat up handsome cops in elevators, to those who have huge medication expenses, to those who have the Steelers as a secondary religion, to those who are into nikon digital cameras, to those who confuse Rooh AfzaSummer drink of the East with ketchup, to those who used to much bleach to wash their sheets, to tho who rep each other and to tho who schmep each other, to those who prefer this side of the hill, to those who have written papers all night, to those who have a cathedral in their avatar, and to other friends.

Schmwow!

But if I may... you aren't on "this" side of the hill yet! However your cleverness is beyond your years.

2. I was hoping that those who are worried about being confused with the White Witch in Narnia would be mentioned BECAUSE I was thinking perhaps you are the ketchup/Rooh Afza/JoeShirley's Pavlova, etc. distributor, being that you are quite handy in the kitchen.

and 3, I don't consider him creepy. He aint heavy, he's my brother!

But other than that, Schmeep on Schmeepin on!

Wow, that sounds interesting (I loved Dubliners). Good luck for the paper  .

You're right, I should have mentioned the White Witch. Shame on me for forgetting her.

I'm sorry about that. But creepy was the word I read in the post.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come across that way. I was trying to emphasize your suspected generosity. Shame on me

I'm sorry about that. But creepy was the word I read in the post.

I know it was, and I should have addressed the one who said it, not you. It's a very sensitive matter that has caused many sparks on this and other forums. Sorry again. Man, you are so nice and I made you feel bad.

I'll try to be better next time

You are the best thing that ever happened to this thread! We all greatly love and appreciate your greetings and suspected gifts and I hope I haven't ruined anything. Want some cake?

Ok, I'm putting this in the receipes sticky, too, but

Do yall know about Quinoa?

It's a tiny grain (technically a seed) , like Millet, that used to be frequently used by native central/south Americans. From what I've been told, it's basically a complete protein, and has a much higher % of protein than wheat does. It needs to be rinsed well to clean off a natural coating of a bitter tasting chemical, but then it cooks in 15 min, is similar to kasha or couscous, and is high in iron, magnesium, and of course all the lovely protein! It's gluten-free for you glut-meisters, and can be found in whole/bulk food sections of groceries or in natural food stores with some ease. Read all about it on wikipedia!

It's a miracle fasting food that will help you eat nutriously while you're refraining from animal products.

Being an artist I need to have slides of my work for entering it into competitions, applying for grants, etc. To get a digital file made into a slide costs $10 per picture, which is a bit too pricey for me. Therefore I have 2 Nikon 6006 SLRs (one for slides and one that I take pictures with). I love the 6006!

I agree you can't do everything with a digital. My hubby has an old Canon AE1 that is still working like a trooper. It is built like a tank. :) I also inherited my uncles camera - I forget what it is - but would love to try it out. In my art classes, we learned how to make prints with an old Polaroid, so I purchased an ancient one on eBay, and had taken some pictures with that - it still works great! But also with the Polaroid, just take the picture, roll out the film after a few seconds.. less than a minute ( I forget exactly, will have to check my notes) and place it on watercolor paper, and use a rubber roller and the print happens on the textured paper. There is an artist in San Francisco that does these with the large Polaroid, and does fantastic work.

Thank God! I finished my paper (barely) and survived my final. My poor hand is exhausted.

Good thing I'm finished, too, because I'm suffering from what I hope is some kind of intermittent strabismus. (I hope, because from what I read, the alternatives are worse!) I'd use a " :( " face, but one of the smiley's eyes should be wandering...

I'm feelin' hot, hot, hot!

But not in a good way... :D

Man, this is brutal... Oh, did you notice, chance of showers and thunderstorms again tonight... Yea, just like it has been for the past two weeks or so.

Last night I got ready for bed and almost passed out, so in the end hubby got a fold out bed out for me and put it up downstairs (which is nice and cool) and slept on the couch himself (very comfy couch) as it was just too warm upstairs (AC can't keep up).

Oh well, I'm almost done with the mountain of doom (aka laundry) and then I can actually do something 'fun'. I think I'm sending hubby to DQ when he comes home... I deserve it. :yum:
