I also have a telephoto, and wide angle lenses for my Nikon. There are times that I will "borrow" or "steal" my hubbie's tripod for his SLR. He can take the regular photos, and I'll take the digitals. My graphics degree/knowledge helps with printing them out.... and there are some really nice opportunities to do macros. The 8700 isn't as good for macros as the 880 was. My 880 is a goner for closeups, although it still works for landscape shots. I was really happy to be able to put filters on my Nikon. So much to learn, and so little time.

Being an artist I need to have slides of my work for entering it into competitions, applying for grants, etc. To get a digital file made into a slide costs $10 per picture, which is a bit too pricey for me. Therefore I have 2 Nikon 6006 SLRs (one for slides and one that I take pictures with). I love the 6006!

Therefore I have 2 Nikon 6006 SLRs (one for slides and one that I take pictures with). I love the 6006!

I bought a camera that a friend of mine highly recommended. It is a Nikon, but it's the CoolPix 2500... OK for little snapshots, but anything more complicated than that and it requires too much work on photoshop!

Cool! Last week the Vladimir the Iconographer talked about that icon a bit. I hadn't realized what a mandorla(?) was. It's where what's depicted is only seen by faith, and that is the oval or round "glow".

I didn't quite get why he didn't want to use snow in St. Seraphim's conversation with Motovilov, though I realize that icons are not supposed to be pictographically accurate but more symbolic.
