I always seem to cream birds when they fly by though. Does that count for anything? How about points, 100 points for birds 500 points for deer? :|

You get a seagull and I'll make it 1000 points (hate those birds..... )

I've had two tickets ... all within the span of 2 weeks :( . One was for running a stop sign ... I was in an unfamiliar neighborhood and not paying attention. The other was for speeding ... going 75 in a 55 ... I was testing out my friend's new Jetta and it just got away from me. Luckily, I got out of both b/c neither cop showed up at the court hearings for the tickets

Never had a speeding ticket, i constantly speed going to and from school usually i will average about 80 MPH, does not sound like much but span that over 20 hrs of driving counting stops means i do the max my Explorer SPort will let me (100MPH) at about 3 Revs, which is the same as 70 :|

I have only received two tickets. One for doing 75 in a 55 in my 69 Camaro. The other ticket was for revving my engine at a police officer.

Sorry, but the part about revving your engine is hilarious. You can get a ticket these days for some of the dumbest things.

I am the perfect child. No tickets... yet. ;)

I got pulled over once. The lady cop thought I was drunk (which was hilarious since I've never drank alcohol in my life). It was really wet outside and it was hard to see the lanes so supposedly I was swerving a bit.

I've also gotten my car up to like 130 or so. It's just too tempting.

Only one ticket so far... "Unnecesary aceleration of the motor." I was just geting out of a parking and I had a girl in a 5 series BMW which for some reason decided to stop for over 5 seconds for no reason. So I pass her by the side and I more or less floor it. It was a corner and there was sand or dirt or something on the street so my wheels started to spin but when I felt it, I quickly let off on the gas.... I didn't see the cop on a motorcycle behind me... $50...

Oh and parking tickets, Let's see...$50 for parking in the beach, $75 for parking in a corner "blocking the road", $50 for parking in yellow(I swear it was the owner of the house who painted it because there's no reason for that having been yellow) and... I got another $50 for something....

Lets see...

71 in a 50
45 in a 30
Improper Passing (passed on a double yellow, ended up in small fender bender heh)
81 in a 65 (on my birthday! someone decided to steal my stereo later that day too!)
And 1 totaled car from rear ending someone (who ended up being my kindergarten sunday school teacher!)

But nothin since that last speeding ticket, which was almost 2 years ago, in august it will mark 2 years without any incidents! Awsome! My insurance is going down, wahoo!

One ticket when I was 17, going 30 in a 15 mph zone, past a beach where it's frequented by kids. I deserved that one, and he could've nailed me a lot harder. My niece was riding in my truck w/o a car seat. I was happy to only pay $65.00! I've been stopped about 5-6 times after that, mostly for running stops, or speeding. Every time since then I have gotten off with a verbal or in one case, a written warning. Once I hit someone in a parking lot and left like a real idiot. Someone saw it, got the plate number, and my insurance went up. This last winter I was coming home from school, was talking on the cell phone to my dad, and ran into the back of a pickup truck. I still can't believe I didn't get fined for that one!!!!

I'm totally clean... which is good since I want to apply to a law enforcement agency. I think I would enjoy doing highway patrol... in the great state of NY. I look forward to busting all you law-breakers out there. Muahahahaha. Seriously though, I do speed on occasion, but only with the flow of traffic or out of state... and even then, I don't go a bit past 10 over. I've driven past quite a few state coppers and they don't bother me so long as I'm passing someone or not breaking 10 over.

So where in NY do you want to do this? Great state of NY? Where the heck are you living?!

Anywho, just remember us nice ol' people from CF that are in NY when you fly by in your little trooper car. We're friends . . .right?? ;)

I finish college next year with a degree in Criminal Justice-LE. :) I'm not bound to the state of Wisconsin though. Want to apply with either Madison, or some other major midwest city. Basically anywhere that'll give me a chance to move up the ranks and not sit around all day. (Like cops do here!)

Man,,some of you people are really crappy drivers...rearending people while speeding, and talking on the cell phone. Do us all a favor and go to driving school before you kill someone.
Nothing bothers me more than a careless driver. I've been in a few close-calls with people talking on cell-phones while at school here in PA. Thank God it's illegal in NY. Makes me want to be a Trooper even more so I can take pleasure in citing those people.

Ah, yes. Another way a government sticking their noses into places it doesn't need to be. However, that's another post for another thread at another time. ;)

Making it illegal hasn't deterred the use of cell phones while driving. I've seen just as many, if not more, doing so now than previous to the passing of the law.

I've had many close calls with people trying to shove a burger down their throat while reading the newspaper.

WHO READS THE PAPER OR BOOKS WHILE DRIVING??!! I've seen these people and they're the ones that REALLY scare me.

Either way, any major distraction like this should be a cause for concern. People shouldn't do any of those things... and if I saw anyone being careless in any fashion that could easily cause an accident just as well as someone talking on a cell phone, I would pull them over. It doesn't make a difference what the operator of the vehicle is currently doing, if he/she poses a threat to the safety of the other drivers on the road, they should be reprimanded.

The point I made about it being illegal is that they can be punished for it, which may affect that driver's future use of a cell phone while driving. In all seriousness, would you ever want to attend a funeral of a loved one that died at the hands of someone who was talking on a cell phone? The point is to protect others from stupid people. Yeah people may not have cut their use of cell phones, but at least those who choose to put theirs and other people's lives in danger will be properly punished if caught. After all, crime still occurs regardless of laws... the laws are there to punish those who are caught and prosecuted and keep justice. There will always be crime because man is depraved... God established the government to prevent anarchy and keep a relative amount of justice. It's by no means perfect, but neither are you or I.

I saw a guy trying to read a map that he had unfolded over his steering wheel while he was trying to merge out on the highway, not too surprising, he was going like 60 kph rather than the 110kph he should have been doing. That guy scared me.

How about men shaving, or women fixing their hair or putting on makeup? That's just as stupid! Come on people! Some just don't comprehend that they're driving a vehicle that is about as dangerous as a loaded gun. For my part, talking on the cell phone is dangerous, and I know it. I do my level best not to talk on the phone when I'm driving in a city. Local, rural roads with little traffic is where I get careless. When I rearended that truck I fully expected, and deserved a traffic citation for inattentive driving. Of all people that should know better, it's me. If I remember correctly I had just finished up a class on Traffic Law. Of course I didn't bother to tell the officer that responded that! Ironically enough one of our test questions for the final referred to something like this, and asked what you would cite the driver for.
