This is why we are talking about statistics. A lot of people don't appreciate what statistics tells them.

I suspect the issue is the imbalanced reporting. Oftentimes we hear what's wrong and little about how people are progressing and moving beyond limitations. It lends the impression that everyone is struggling and being left behind.

That's...not how statistics work. What you're talking about is anecdotal data.

Look, I understand the game you're playing right now. I've played it myself on other topics! You know full well what I'm talking about.

If you don't then I highly recommend you listen to what the people are actually saying who are currently out in the streets making everyone upset.

No, I want an answer to the questions everyone keeps dodging. What political or governmental organizations are pushing these actions?

Spoken with true white privilege and extreme white fragility.

Fine... I'm privileged and you're not. Now get over it. Let's see who is fragile.

That isn't a weekend or state/federal holiday (when the DMV is closed anyways)? Plenty.

I don't know anyone like that.

Assuming they could afford to. And something like this isn't going to exist everywhere.

I can't fathom it because I've never seen or lived it. I read about inequality to understand what's taking place. But there are things I'd never do. Lines I can't cross. In my spirit I know it's a dead end.

That's why God to called me to fashion, not social issues. I'm not the best person for the job. :)

It's good that you can recognize that, but perhaps since you do, it would be wise to avoid passing judgment on other people's experiences just because you are unable to relate.

I feel sorry for all your teachers throughout your life. If your math teacher taught you addition by showing you 2 oranges and then 2 more and asking how many oranges do you now assume math only applies to oranges?????

Oranges are a conspiracy theory. Only what I believe and confirms my own self identity will be considered. *Brings up oranges*... how fruitist.

But it kind of is. When you start proposing hypotheticals of "what if white people had the same life experiences as black people" when they clearly didn't, you have to ask why that's the case. And it almost always comes down to a system that works differently for different people based on their race - systemic racism.

Agreed. Now, can you explain why blacks go to college at a lower rate than whites?

Cut the crap about going to Collage, as though that is the problem.

Not everyone has to go to Collage, I never did. I worked at 20 different unrelated jobs, always looking for better pay.

My lack of education cut me off from the better paying jobs I wanted, but I got the best I could get with what I had.

People need to start where they are, OH ---- I don't have a Collage education therefore I won't take any other job offered.

How do you eradicate Systemic Racism, what's the solution that will cause things to become better in the black communities.

The only way for that to take place is to change all of Society, the best way to change the black community is to Educate it, regardless of what Society is doing.

You don't get pulled out of poverty, by the benevolence of others,(Government) you climb out of it by yourself.

Empowerment, how do you empower someone, anyone,- - - Education.

Are whites more productive, why because they are white, because of Systemic Racism, No, because per capita they are better and higher Educated than their counterparts in the Black communities.

Don't get me wrong, education is not the only problem in the black communities, but it IS the only logical stating point.

Just because I haven't walked in their shoes doesn't minimize the value of my experiences. My ability to thrive in spite of being a single mother and wrestling with illness is important. The message isn't meant for everyone. Those who can apply the lessons and elevate themselves will benefit from the insight.

I know my audience and the people I'm meant to minister to and influence. They don't want to be coddled. They want to be encouraged and held accountable to use what they have and make the most of it. They want success. Not excuses.

Some of them are in the ranks of those we're addressing. I can spot them. I know their scent. :)

This is why we are talking about statistics. A lot of people don't appreciate what statistics tells them. They like to rely on "anecdotal data". Anecdotal data are limited in scope and tell you very little about the overall population. Indeed there ARE people of color who do quite well! There are MANY such people. But the point is that the majority, the "mean" if you will, do NOT have it so good.

It like someone telling you the average height of a kindergartner is 3'9" tall and you automatically assume that EVERY SINGLE KINDERGARTNER IS EXACTLY 3'9" tall. That isn't how statistics work. Sometimes there are kindergartners significantly taller and signficantly shorter than that!

Just talk no solutions.

No, I want an answer to the questions everyone keeps dodging. What political or governmental organizations are pushing these actions?

This kind of obtuseness is hardly of any real value. I gave you and EXAMPLE and you ran and acted like it was the ONLY TOPIC.

Systemic racism is seldom "legislated" as such. But we DO have a "war on drugs" which seems to be quite focused on locking up black men. (I already recommended a book you can read...assuming you can or wish to actually engage in the topic). Oopsy...I don't mean to say that is the ONLY PROBLEM EITHER! Let me also point out the fact that we repeatedly have black people KILLED BY THE POLICE for minor offenses. How many white guys do YOU know that have been given the death penalty on the spot before a trial for selling loose cigarettes? How many white guys have you seen on national TV killed by the police over a counterfeit $20?

I'll wait for your answer.

Fine... I'm privileged and you're not.

WHO ON EARTH SAID I WASN'T PRIVILEGED??? What is your problem? I didn't say that. OF COURSE I'm privileged. I'm a cis-gender, straight white male in the USA. That's the PICTURE of privilege.

Please do not compound your little game by misrepresenting things people say.

Jiminz, I was answering a specific question from another poster. Please, do try to pay attention to the posts before you put your $0.02 in. Thanks!

Still didn't hear you propose any solutions to the problem, just talk it's always just talk never action, and I don't mean protesting or tearing down a statue that shouldn't offend you.

The shame... the horror!!! You were born the wrong way, man o man. Guess the only thing left to do is repent for having been born in a manner that wasn't even to your choosing. Or you can get over it and move on in life.

And you're a Republican? Funny thing is I was told I was nuts for saying the exact terminology verbatim is a democrat notion.

People still act like they don't know what I am talking about.

If you would like to talk about that I will do so. But please do not insert your comments as if my answer to the other poster's question required a "solution" per se.

Now, what is the solution? Well, education, as you propose is an EXCELLENT start. But education must ALSO happen in the white community. We must realize that we have enjoyed a great degree of privilege unearned by granted us solely due to our skin. As such it is up to us to:

1. Listen when people of color tell us their problems.
2. Do try not to make it all about ourselves (white fragility)
3. When we are in a position to hire or give business to someone, let us understand our internal, sometimes even unconscious biases and work past them.
4. Let us vastly improve the welfare system and access to affordable healthcare for ALL Americans

That's a small start. There's other things we can do. We can stop this war on drugs, we can ensure our justice system is far more equitable, we can shift funding in the police toward mental healthcare and social workers as well as deescalation teams, etc. We also need to de-militarize the police.

There's a ton we can do right now. Today. But a big component is going to be us white folks who have gotten so much from a system that enshrines (even mildly) racial inequity.

And you're a Republican?

What??? What is your malfunction? Are you going to misrepresent me on EVERYTHING??? I never said I was a Republican! Sheesh! I'm a Liberal and a Dem.

Wow. Do you read anything for content?

I gave you an example. You assumed it was the only one. Now I will have to repeat myself (because apparently you don't read much of what you are responding to).

War on Drugs, Aggressive Sentencing, voter ID laws, overpolicing, aggressive district attorneys who are given free rein to push through cases and pile on charges that would never normally stick just to get a plea deal. And that's not an exhaustive list by a long shot.

A LOT OF systemic racism is not even LEGISLATED PER SE!

(Go ahead, don't read any of this, just make some stuff up about me and post it back to me!)

Yet all of the things you talk about are building a better system, when it's the system that has caused most of the problems to begin with.

please do not insert your comments as if my answer to the other poster's question required a "solution" per se.

It's a discussion about the problems which have caused the issues we are seeing today, it always requires solutions.

Whenever a person such as Mao, Pol Pot, Castro take control of a Nation, they get rid of everyone who is Educated first, because they are the only ones who have the ability to fight back, so in reverse, if a population is oppressed, then the way to help them out of that situation is to Educate them.

I read every post, in every thread I am a part of.

Let me simplify this... do Democrats and blacks themselves share in the blame for racist actions in America?
