I get scared easily I'll admit. I'm super sensitive to stuff...visually, I'm quite sensitive...it bothers me...not much I can do about it. Kinda wish I wasn't like that though. It'd make stuff like this a lot easier for me to cope with.

Even in doing the research, seeing about spirits and ghosts and stuff, it all just makes me feel creepy and stuff...

Ah well. Maybe one day I'll actually grow some guts lol

So do you think that wedding gowns "ought" to be white? :) and how objective would such an assertion be?

What's the matter with pink or black ones? :)

You see, it's about subjective culture. So often the professing church has confused truth with "cultural preferences that we like".

I think, going back to where all this WAS earlier, it ends up coming down to personal conviction, and what is between you and God. If you do not feel it is wrong, and you truly are following Christ, then more power to ya. If you feel it's wrong, stay away from it.

I feel that we need to be careful, aware, alert, to what the devil is doing...

On the flip side, I think also we must not give too much credit to the devil nor pay too much attention, because that could make it more complex and give him more power than he actually has.

Speaking to myself, if we live in fear of EVERYTHING that "might" be ungodly, we'd probably end up not enjoying anything at all.

So as with everything, it's probably a balance...one that is hard to get...but then I think God is pretty good at conviction, He knows how to tell us where we're wrong.

Found this on a site talking about why priests wear black, more specifically, Catholic priests, on this particular website:

The Roman collar symbolizes obedience; the Sash or cincture around that waist, chastity; and the color black, poverty. Moreover, black is a color of mourning arid death for the priest, the symbolism is dying to oneself to rise and serve the Lord as well as giving witness of the Kingdom yet to come.

I thought they wore black because it makes them look cool :D

On a serious note don't some priests/ministers also wear white outfits?

Very wise words! :)

So often professing Christians show little sense of balance and common sense. "Let your moderation be known unto all men." (Philippians 4).

Blessings.

Yep that didn't scare me lol

Some things bother me and some don't. Have no REAL explanation for it. I'm still so sensitive to some things because of how I was raised...I'm not very many years away from being isolated from anything outside of the "pure" clean cut religious cult. So a lot of this stuff is really overwhelming and at times overpowering to me.

But I do want to learn...and I want to be open to it...because I know that I don't know everything.

Can you maybe give some examples of things you refer to? (only if it's not too painful for you to remember).

Blessings.

I don't know...probably...I have not been in many churches or to many weddings or anything like that. My pastor certainly doesn't lol he's a jeans and button down shirt kinda guy. And in the other churches I've been in, it's never been like that. But I know in more "organized religion" types such as Catholics, there are dress codes for priests and clergy and the likes. I just don't know what that is now.

The Epistle to the Hebrews shows us that the age of religious ritual is largely past; this is why I tend to look at issues of clothing color in cultural and aesthetic terms instead.

Blessings.

I agree with you on that...the rituals were there before because there was no Savior and there was no Bible...among other things. Some of it was cultural I'm sure. Some of it was because some of the churches then were unruly. Not like they're not now...man, can you imagine if God wrote a Bible to the churches of today?? If He was so tough on the churches of yesteryear, imagine...wouldn't be pretty.
