You are free to act. But you are not free from consequence, unless you are in Christ Jesus that is, and then He takes your consequence. Life in Christ Jesus is freedom on both counts. That is why I say there is no such thing as freedom. We either turn from sin or go to hell. How is that freedom?
I guess I will never understand. But I will work hard at turning away from Sin but I will not say that I am free.
If you freely choose to trample on Christ Jesus to the point that He is no longer able to hold you, then have you not acted freely?
I appreciate your quandry but I think you misunderstand the nature of the boundary that is set around us.
Christ calls us to life whereas sin is death. At the point where you speak of sin and going to hell are you not asking why Christ would not set you free to die? He does not redeem us for death, rather He sets us apart for life and we are free to live. If we wish to seek death then we are free to do this also but then we will be dead and no longer able to act either way and so loose all freedom.
If we keep our eyes on Christ and who He is; In him is life, and that life is the light of all mankind; then we are truly free in both action and consequence.
