Hey Michael,

I just finished a test. I feel great now that it's over. How are you?

Dear Bradford,

I really wish people can debate here, regardless of whether they're OO or not. The only potential problem I see with debates is if it get's uncivilized.

God bless.

Feo, you're a convert to the Coptic Church too??? That is so awesome. I am in the process of converting. My car went out of commission for a while, so I couldn't make the drive to Liturgy, but I am talking to Abouna right now and trying to start my catechumenate again. Pray for me...

Hi Coptic Girl
Over here in the Celtic heartland of Wales we are very aware that the Celtic church adopted a lot of the Eastern Church practises, and were very open to the desert fathers doctine.
If you have any advice, links, to the desert hermits theology and practice I would be most grateful. The Holy Spirit is calling the Church in Wales to open up the old wells and anointings resident in this land.
May God bless you, and make His face shine upon you.

And same goes for me too! Although I'd say you have a good excuse to not be showing up; due to your car not being in service and all. I'm just a lazy jerk and don't always go. Usually I attend the vespers service... because thats at night (and I'm not a very good morning person) but I only attend the Liturgy maybe every other week :(

Hi Citypastor!

Have you ever heard of the British Orthodox Church? If there are any in your area I would suggest checking one out. They are a part of the Coptic Orthodox Church and thus have the same theology and practices as us.

One book that is pretty good is The Sayings of the Desert Fathers.

If you look at some of the other threads in this forum, there is one called Library, and one with website links. I would suggest looking at those two.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, and welcome!

God Bless,
Elizabeth

Hi,
I am not Coptic (I am Anglo-Catholic), but I have a strong personal interest in Orthodoxy. I often visit the local Greek Orthodox parish (they have English services on Saturday night, which is convenient), and I have visited the local Coptic parish once before (I really enjoyed it, despite the difficulty in following the liturgy when it switched to Coptic and Arabic languages). I also own an Agpeya prayerbook which I love to read on occasion.

Blessings,
Michael

ok i jsut said this but i'll say it again..

why does this thread say oriental orthodox and not coptic ortthodox

The Coptic Orthodox Church is a type of Oriental Orthodox Church, and this forum is not just for Copts but for all members of the Oriental Orthodox Church. As sister churches we all share the same faith, practices and theology.

Soooo....we voted and the thread was renamed The Voice in The Desert--Oriental Orthodox. Refering to it as the Oriental Orthodox Thread and not just Coptic thread is more appropriate and fair to those who are Oriental but not Coptic.

God Bless,
Elizabeth
