There is nothing at all wrong with using a talit in a respectful manner, though I would be cautious of using one in public settings for not wanting to offend those Jewish people who would take offense at this.
I'm new to this forum and would like to jump in and say that Christians have no place wearing a prayer shawl. The idea is utterly sad since Christ has saved us out of all those additions to our faith.
Our faith is in Him and Him alone. When we partake of such worldly traditions and superstitions we blur the line between light and darkness and bring shame on our Lord.
Now if someone needs a shawl as a reminder to pray, it would be wise for that person to examine their faith to see if they are truly walking along with Him.
Here is just one of God's warnings about tradition.
Colossians 2:8-10
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power."
Colossians 2:8-10
Now some will say that a prayer shawl used to be a tradition in the O T and to that I say JESUS Himself has fulfilled every single tradition, thing or idea that pointed to Him from the Old Testament. He IS the prayer shawl!
