The citizens own it. The ILLEGAL migrant does not.
And if they break into a country their intent is obviously crime as well....otherwise they'd go to a border crossing point and take the legal route.
Well they'd be denied at a port of entry...they haven't filled out the proper paperwork and waited for their turn to immigrate legally. That's also a part of this issue I never see the left address...the injustice done to those immigrating legally when we simply allow those here illegally to stay.
They are, by definition, criminals for entering illegally...but that doesn't guarantee they're here simply for crime (though some certainly are, there's a reason why car theft is so prevalent along the southwest border).
From what I understand...most are here because they don't really understand the realities of the US and what life is really like. They believe that we're all so rich that they will simply be given enough money to live off of....and they can get a free education regardless of age. They don't know how much things cost...it's basically a whole lot of misconceptions
Some certainly turn to crime...that's often all but inevitable if they find themselves in a community that has an organized crime element already. For the most part though, they're here for the jobs and benefits.
It's not. It fell under a moral turpitude clause in her contract ( or so the district claimed ). It was a super conservative region of the country. She sued and won. If you work with the public , don't give anyone that dislikes you a present on your social media. Don't put anything up that can be misunderstood or misconstrued in an extreme way. And if you flat out hate groups of people , if you advertise it, people will go after you.Sorry? A picture with a glass of wine? Unless it was taken at school, what business of the employer?
The ones who do arrive at the border legally and seek asylum are then illegally turned away by the border patrol without a hearing.
When the only other option becomes to return to whatever horror they were running from in the first place, sneaking in starts to look pretty good.
When those we entrust to uphold the law choose not to follow it, there's no incentive for anyone else to, either.
You can be fired for anything you put on social media that goes against what your employer wants in people that are representing them. I imagine supporting murder is frowned upon by most bosses. When I was teaching , a teacher within my district was fired for taking a picture with a glass of wine and making it their fb profile picture .
I don't disagree with you...I just don't understand why you say it like it's not a concern. Imagine if I told you...
"I'm not worried about policy xyz, it's only gonna hurt the poor."
Would you think that's a good reason to dismiss other people's worries? The poor in this nation are at least 30 million people....and most people struggle with poverty at some point in their lives.
I just don't see it. Let me ask you, seriously, do the poor have the worst schools? Do they have the worst health outcomes? Least opportunities? Most problems with drugs and violent crimes?
Why would we ever....ever...think it's a good idea to just keep piling more poor people on that problem instead of fixing it?
I think that's kind of dumb.
Everybody just skipped right over your post. Seems like an important distinction to me. Did you look at the screen capture? She ended it with a "I had heard that the woman in question has said the quote was taken out of context. She had said it came from a wider discussiond in which she was being facetious and parodying anti immigration people.
I haven't seen anything beyond the stand alone quote, but frankly, absent other information I can accept that explantation. Many of us on this forum have made some pretty damning statements while being sarcastic in an expression of frustration.
The vast majority claiming asylum don't get approved for it...
That doesn't justify turning them away of course, but the lack of space for asylum seekers does. If so many weren't outright lying about needing asylum or exaggerating their need...they'd probably have enough room for all the legitimate cases.
Also is this a real issue? I've seen reports that it's happened...I just don't know how often.
