Mark 13:24
However, after the tribulation of those days, 'The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,

There are several places that say "the moon will not give its light" (or some such similar wording) in various books in the bible. But the moon doesn't give any light of it's own, it only reflects light. Shouldn't they know that the moon doesn't give light?

Joshua 11:20 For it was the LORD himself who hardened their hearts ...

... For it was the LORD’s doing to harden their hearts that they should come against
Israel in battle, in order that they should be devoted to destruction and ...

^Just one example of God "hardening their hearts" (there are several in Exodus too). If we are all given free will, wouldn't it be a form of control or interference if God hardens the hearts? Isn't that manipulating the outcome?

Thank you in advance for any help!

It means that the night would not be illuminated via the moon.
Ever here the song lyric :

"By the Light of the silvery moon"?

Should he have written "By the light of the Sun's reflected light on the moon"?

The Bible is not a science book, but if the Sun is darkened, then as a result, the moon would have no light- so it is an accurate description scientifically.

What I mean is this: the Bible is not science, however, the science in the Bible is correct.

Hardening their hearts- I heard on preacher say that it is like twisting their hearts to show what was already within their hard hearts- provoking them to do what they already want to do. Like Pharoah- he had no intentions of letting Israel go, so God provoked him by the plagues. He was driving Pharoah to get to his point.

Here is an answer I find satisfactory:
Does the Moon Really Give Light?

BTW

The song is offered as an example of how illogical such an assumption really is. Would we accuse the singers of not knowing that the moon is merely reflecting the Sun's light? They even say "Not the Sun but the moon!" Which of course proves absolutely nothing about their astronomical knowledge.

Regarding the hardening of hearts.
If you look at the classic case of God hardening Pharoah's heart (Rom 9 and Exodus), take a concordance put in the words "pharaoh", "heart" and "hardened" and you will find that actually Pharoah had already been hardening his own heart...so God steps in and further hardens what already was becoming hard. I believe the same principle holds elsewhere in Scripture...otherwise God's judgment on mankind would simply be a charade.
