I love metal, if you look into it (more than thrash and metalcore) there's metal music for every mood. Theres blues for every mood, jazz for every mood, rock for every mood etc.

I just think everyone should give all music a GOOD chance (not turn it on, say ew, and turn it off.. or hear that it's 'satanic' off of some site)

Im actually more of a rap person but yea occasional metal is ight. Right now I am listening to slayer.

For whomever mentioned Immortal, that is incorrect. While they are grouped with black metal and were a huge part in its history, they are atheists and the "mythology" they use in lyrics is purely fictional, with fictional names and everything. There is no mention of God, Satan, the bible or any of that stuff. If anything, it's a bit silly, but hardly Satanic.

There is only one way to overcome this and that is to listen to the voice of the Spirit of God.

Anyone in Christ is a new creature, the old things are gone and the new has come. (rom 8-15) those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

As a christian you are a new creation and as you renew your spiritual mind (Eph 4:22-24, Philip 4:8, Rom 12:2, 1 Cor 2:16) you will have to drop things that are spiritually unwholesome, thus in my point all secular metal. The only one who can lead you is God the HOly Spirit and if he says no then it doesn't matter what anyone here says to challenge his voice in your life.

Who are you to tell us what things are spiritually wholesome? For me, metal has actually made me into a better person (it sounds weird but it's true).

2 Timothy 2:22

Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, hope and love along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Paul said to flee anything that is a harm to you and tempts you to sin, listening to secular metal tempts you with wrong thoughts that counter the fruits of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) and does nothing to help you grow spiritually, just helps you to stay bound to the flesh.

Playing ping pong does nothing to help you grow spiritually, but we do it, because it's fun. If metal tempted me to sin, that's a different story, but it doesn't, so there's no reason to flee from it.

Ephesians 6:12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (2 Cor 4:4) (James 4:7)

There is a spiritual war with demonic powers out there and there kingdom is temporal meaning they want you to live in the flesh where God wants you to live in the spirit which is eternal. Your conscience is telling you its bad which is the voice of the Spirit of God, con science means with knowledge and this is where God speaks to you meaning he is saying no secular metal, get rid of it and move on. On the other hand demonic powers are saying its ok, keep listening, there are so called other believers who are decieved listening to it as well, its ok buddy keep listening so I can keep you in bondage. If your conscience says no then throw it out and when your tempted to come back to this sight don't for many innocent believers get lured into things that are not biblical in this forum.

The spirit of God in me has no problem with what I listen to. Once again, if I felt that I shouldn't be listening to it I wouldn't.

I dont have my bible and have it memorized but it says put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature (the flesh) and then it has a list of things to eliminate such as anger, rage, malice and filthy language from your lips. Think about it all secular metal sings about is anger, rage, malice, and filthy language.

So evil, I feel spiritually lost already.

I get a real kick here how Christians say I love slayer but cannibal corpse sucks. It counters scripture, they are using foul language. In God's kingdom we are united in spirit and do things to edify and love one another, not put each other down because we have some differences . The battle is in the mind and you now live in the spirit so you want to put wholesome things into mind and spirit things that are spiritually positive not negative garbage sinful thoughts that secular metal does. Secular metal groups are temporal and satanic, some knowingly work for satan and others are decieved but the simple point is they all serve satan and satan works through them to lure others into his kingdom of darkness.

So if I pick up my guitar and play a metal riff I am unknowingly serving satan.

Dont pollute your mind or spirit with this garbage (2 Cor 7:1) we must remove anything that would contaminate body and spirit and secular satanic music must be the first to go. Burn you cd's, shirts, books, etc and buy christian music. As soon as you get rid of it you will have the temptation to buy it again but resist the devil and he will flee.

No. Two reasons.

#1. Christian music is horrible. I do listen to one christian band though, DivineFire, because they actually make good music.

#2. Metal is not polluting me.

You can also print out the lyrics and show them to your pastor and he will clearly tell you to move on and away from this garbage.

Once again, not all metal has bad lyrics, and besides, it's none of the pastor's business what I listen to.

Read this and recieve this science because everyone here attacks and persecutes me for stating the truth about true spiritual principles in the word of God.

For some people you are right, but you can't make general statements like this and say it's wrong for everyone. This is a gray area, a subjective area. It varies from person to person if metal is right for them or not.

Trust me science I know about this stuff because I was in serious satanic bondage and spiritual matters before turning to the Lord and the Holy way.

That was a problem of yours, and not the music. Maybe the music didn't help, but you shouldn't have been listening to it in the first place considering the kind of person you are. As I said, it varies.

Have a good walk and listen to your spirit and God and not to others who are leading you astray into spiritually evil bondages.

I do listen to my spirit and God and that's why I have made the descision that metal is fine for me to listen to.

All these bible verses are seriously giving me a headache. Seriously though for the christians that say that "all secular metal/rock" is the work of the devil in my opinion are wrong and really misled. I'm not going to deny there are quite a few bands with unchristian messages but to judge every single band and the entire genre on the actions of a few is absolutely stupid. Just because some bands choose not to right every song about "God" doesn't make them satanic. Oh well lucky i'm not a christian.

^ I know that not all christians are like this but the religion and idealogy to me seem to be a bit silly to me and seem to cause alot of intolerance, judgement, and violence upon those who disagree with you. Ever since I've left christianity and began a life of logic and reason, thing have seemed to have gotten better for me personally. I realize he may have had a bad experience, but he's blaming it on the music when it's obviously a problem with him.

metal music, or any music, even Christian music, only becomes satanic if you let it start stearing you away from God. Satan means adversary, and an adversary is someone or something that opposes you. if you let metal start opposing you and interfering with your walk with God, then there is a problem. Apart from that, metal has gotta be one of the greatest forms of music ever, and no one should dis it unless they've given it a chance.

^Not all christian music is as horrible as you make it out to be seriously give bands like Drottnar, Divine Symphony, Antestor, Slechtvalk, and Sorrowstorm a chance, but I know what you mean the christian music scene as a whole is mainly pathetic and a watered-down(with the exception of an elite few) clone of secular music which is 10 times better.

the singer for slayer is a christian btw, just proves what they wrote about or the imgae they have is again just bull shyt, and for shock and to get all the fools to like them, if they came in all holy and clean cut, would they sell records? im pretty sure you guys know that answer, same for almost all bands....

Not to mention the fact that satanists dont worship satan, i dont know why they choose such a stupid name for the religion but thats their choice.

i dont know why anyone didnt mention lamb of god in any posts that saw, only read like 15 pages tho =\, but with a cd or their old band name as "burn the priests" i think it was, you would think they are some kind of devil worshipers, or satanists, but they are not, so even that image which looks rly obvious, might not be right.

And for these bands posted on the 1st few pages i dont understand why they portray this image of satan, to me that doesnt look like satanist, it looks more along the lines of devil worshiping freaks.

don't be so quick to dismiss everything. particularly in the 80s when death metal was still emerging, it was an integral part of the music.
