1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. IF WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, GOD DWELLETH IN US, AND HIS LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US.
13 HEREBY KNOW WE THAT WE DWELL IN HIM, AND HE IN US, because HE HATH GIVEN UNTO US OF HIS SPIRIT.
Yes, if. That's our goal-to love that way continuously, as God does. And that's His goal, His purpose, for us. I tend to doubt those who say they've arrived at perfect love, but hey, if so, better yet!
If we don't bridle the tongue our religion is vain.

if we bridle our tongue we are able to also bridle the whole body.
Yes, that should be a goal. God does not demand absolute perfection in this life even if He will eventually achieve it in us. At the same time, if we think we can do the opposite, sin willfully and wantonly, we will be very disappointed in that theology at the end of the day. He'll judge u on our love. Faith is the doorway to that love, as it's the doorway to Him.

It is a commandment, not a goal. ( to be believed and obeyed, or disbelieved and disobeyed)

1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

2 John 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Our religion is vain without bridling, it is not a goal it is a command.

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

If this forum continues to support a persons id, claiming to be Catholic and using that as an excuse to disagree with scripture, it is very ungodly behavior.
I haven't noticed anyone like that here, though. You haven't demonstrated enough understanding of Scripture to make such a statement anyway.

How silly to say it should be a goal, when you say the church says we cant achieve it.
As I stated, the church says we will achieve it, but not necessarily in this life. The truth is quite far from a person who thinks they've been perfected all at once. They probably need at least a few more years of incubation time in this life.

Make the double statements up, if we achieve love or not.

Also the words are told simply, we know God is in us when we love one another, and when we love another Gods love is perfected in us.

Says the guy who denies the scripture that the commandment of God is to love one another and labels it as a goal, which he also says cant be achieved, and that's not you against the faith ?
Well, if you quoted me with some kind of truthfulness, I might actually begin to believe you're as perfect as you claim. As I said, and as all genuine Churches teach, it's a journey, to perfection, and a journey we must be on, however.

Do you always love your brother, perfectly?

1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Try to be truthful, and thoughtful, with your citations. Love demands it.

As I said, it will be completed only in the next life, when we meet God "face to face" and are fully known as we fully know.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

You only quoted Scripture-I'm asking about you, about how you line up, how you actually comport yourself every moment of every day.
