It is a commandment, not a goal. ( to be believed and obeyed, or disbelieved and disobeyed)
1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
2 John 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. IF WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, GOD DWELLETH IN US, AND HIS LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US.
13 HEREBY KNOW WE THAT WE DWELL IN HIM, AND HE IN US, because HE HATH GIVEN UNTO US OF HIS SPIRIT.
Our religion is vain without bridling, it is not a goal it is a command.
James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
