so far it's been a busy morning. My DH is sick...he actually called into work... He rarely does that!
I think it's the flu!! I told him to stay hydrated and stay away from us!! LOL!

I've spoken to my son Nick's teacher also. She's been out with a sick child these past few days, and Nick has had a hard time with the substitute. Also, we think he's having trouble with the bus...maybe the noise level, or something. So we are going to meet with the bus driver to come up with solutions.

I have also been researching probiotics. We have been so sick in this family, that we need to boost our immune systems. I hear probiotics replace the good flora in your intestines and fight against the bad ones. Just eating yogurt isn't enough. And antibiotics kill all the flora, not just the bad ones. That's why sometimes kids become lactose intolerant right after a round of antibiotics.

anyway...taking the boys out today. They need it!

Hop everyone has a great day!

Probiotics are a good thing.
I refused to get antibiotics for this sinus infection this time, because I know I am going to need them for some dental work soon, and I do not like constantly taking them.
It worked, I'm better and I feel strong again.

All nutrients are important; so don't forget to give fresh fruits and veggies (garlic and onions, too), and plenty of good water to flush!!!

I'm with coolmom on this (and, coincidentally, fighting a sinus infection too....with saline spray and menthol/camphor based stuff like vix to open up my head.)

Keep the yogurt going in, but not all yogurt is the same, and a lot has added sugar (which encourages bad bacteria) and artificial sweetener (which can upset kids and even some adult tummies).

One of my fav things to do is to mix honey and ginger in with plain fat-free or lowfat organic yogurt.

I used to think yogurt was a good thing, but after reading an article about probiotics, yogurt is not an effective probiotic because it doesn't have enough of the little guys in there to make a difference. Here is the link to check it out:

http://www.healthybynatureshow.com/essential.shtml

There has to be at least 1.5 billion of the little guys per gram to help, and you have to take the supplements daily.
But yikes! the price on those puppies!!

also, i am not taking yogurt out of my diet!! i love it! i buy sugar free oraganic yogurt as well!
My favorite brand is Stonyfield Farms. They have lots of flavors and no added sugars/preservatives.

He wouldn't be one of us if he didn't, he'd be Christ...and well, that story has already been played out, hasn't it. LOL! Hug him up, limit him with love, and don't let him think God gave him his mom to be his waitress, maid and handservant. His future wife will thank you some day!

LOL yeah, I know what ya mean there... His daddy doesn't demand me to get him things, so I don't think he really meant it.

I usually take them to the Parks and Recreation, for classes, Romper room, etc.
On nice days, go to the park "outside" (imagine...).
And we do plenty of library, McD's, and just plain days at home, saving money.
The girls like to do Playdoh and paint and arts and crafts, and our garage is a playroom.

Other than that, they have Leapster, and some PC games and there's always PBS and Nick Jr.

I only have the one little one, but my 7 y.o. used to have "track" school, and she would get to keep the 4 y.o. busy.

The big kids; well, that's a whole 'nother ball game!!!;)
