  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know about you all, but I'm tired of my Android phone doing updates. I have Graphene OS, so the problem is that when I connect to my home wifi, it automatically downloads the big Android updates. It doesn't give me a choice on whether I want to do the updates now or later. It's frustrating. I want to play on my phone when I connect to wifi, not wait 20, 30, or 40 minutes for my phone to download, install, verify, then restart.

I don't know about Graphene, but most Android updates typically give you the option to schedule installs.

Either way, security exploits and bugs don't tend to wait around for the convenience of end users.

How many Android updates are you getting each month with Graphene? I also have a Pixel phone but with stock android. I usually get one Android update a month, then many smaller app updates.

Maybe you are accidentally Alpha testing GrapheneOS without realizing? Would that cause more frequent updates? I am not sure.

Edit: Maybe set your phone to System Update only while charging. Such as when not in use.
In Settings > System > System update toggle on the "Require device to be charging" option.

For some reason, this month and last month, there were more system updates than usual. There's already been 3 for January. I think December had 3 too. I was actually suspicious that something secretly bad was being installed on my phone and I wouldn't know what it was until later.

After I made the original post, I went to the Graphene OS's forum. Someone suggested that I can set the wifi connection to metered to prevent automatic updates. I'm going to try this solution and see how it works.

I already manually check for app updates, so manually checking for system updates isn't a big deal to me.
