hey new creation!New Creation said:Hi everyone! I used to run cross country when I was a kid, I also was a (very mediocre) sprinter and did a lot of running for gymnastics training. I haven't done ANY running since then (except from Jesus!).
Seven months ago I quit smoking and I have gained a lot of weight- 35 pounds- aaack!!
Two weeks ago I blew a good chunk of change on a good pair of runners and I started training for the Vancouver 10 k sun Run. I'm mostly walking right now, doing the 30 sec. run, 4 min. 30 sec. walk first week, then shift 30 more seconds from walking to running each week. I'm really excited about this.
Oh by the way, I won't be running in the actual race since it's too far away but I am still training and going to run it here at home nonetheless.
the vancouver 10km sun run was my very first long distance race! i ran the race in 2000. prior to the race i had no experience with long distance running and so i joined a running clinic which specifically trained us for the vancouver sun run; so i am totally familiar with what you are doing. the sun run training is one that i would highly recommend to people who've never run before and want to start. after i ran the sun run, i screwed up my right knee and stopped running for a few years, until last september. i'm training for a half marathon and my goal is to run in the nyc marathon. do you live in vancouver? i grew up there but have been living here in new jersey for the past three and a half years.
