  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Why has religion become less important over time? Is it a sign of the times? I've noticed very few young people taking religious vocations, or being serious about their faith.

*BTW, by "religion" I mean relationship with God. Not necessarily rules and rituals.

God bless
Depends on what you mean by Relationship? Also, How would you know?

Because relationship is not a religion. Religion is rules and traditions. Relationships have boundaries and that's dependent on if the relationship is based on respect.

The problem is generation's past, and some still steeped in tradition, used religion to enforce a particular belief system/s.

God isn't like our traditions, he gave us choice, a relationship with him is a choice. Sharing the Gospel became a bible bashing exercise over the centuries, instead of the good news of salvation it was always meant to be.

The focus of the church is too ethereal, and church leaders contented themselves with basically being irrelevant by depending solely on the benefits after death. When you speak of a relationship with Christ, it's rare that those who say it can explain what they mean and how their relationship makes a difference in their life. Rather than being a faith worth dying for, Christianity in the west has largely been relegated to social clubs. Seeker sensitive movements have made it seem like the church is desperate to please the world, rather than standing on convictions. On the other end, the church has given no reason to seriously consider its moral claims instead relying on an authority it lost decades ago.
