  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Questions you always wanted to ask a Christian or non believer and remarks are accepted also.

The door is wide open.
The invitation has been sent to all.
The gift is sitting on the table.
Can your eyes see it?
Can your ears hear it?
Do you know it?
Anyone can accept.
Anyone can believe.
Nobody is turned away.
Nobody is rejected.
Whosoever will.
You are welcome to come in.
People are waiting for you to enter.
The angels will rejoice when you do.

Here's my question to those of you who claim you were once saved, but have "shaken off the shackles and are now free":

What made you give up all these benefits ...

Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

... to embrace atheism?

1. Perhaps you weren't saved in the first place?

2. Or perhaps you are now a victim of Paul's warning not to embrace evolution, as it can lead to atheism?

3. Or perhaps you just don't know?

I would love for someone to answer this honestly.
These words don’t have any weight for someone who doesn’t believe. You can say that about any text, including those that directly contradict the Bible.

I'm not an atheist but i love Jesus and the greater picture is if you don't your life will end at death and you won't be with Jesus. So the other is lose lose lose
How do you know this?

But it is directed at those who claim they did believe.

You can say that about any text, including those that directly contradict the Bible.

Again, we're talking about "ex-Christians."

Those who claim they were once saved, but now claim they aren't.

They probably read the Bible more than once or twice, attended church weekly, tithed, spread the Good News of the Gospel, and even may have taught Sunday School, drove a bus, been a deacon, or ushered.

You know?

Themkind.

Yes, my response applies to them. That includes myself. You stop believing, and then the verses become meaningless.

And how do you stop believing, when you are experiencing all those benefits I mentioned?

They are the same. Like I said- I'm not walking into a gotcha where I am forced to choose the one you select for me. There are hundreds of gods that I could choose: why limit my choice to your preference?
Hundreds of God. No, sir. Where do you get the 100’s from?

There is the misconception that to believe a thing means to assent to the truth of a thing.
Not so.
While some may say that not believing a thing renders it meaningless to them, it is also true that ignorance or even denial of thing does not make it false.
If God created all things, your not believing it does not make it false. It is true if you believe it or not.
Denial of things that you have no knowledge of simply closes your mind to the possibility of finding that truth. It is a faith in itself. Instead of being a door of faith, it is a wall of faith.
This, I think, is the difference between a flat earth religion and a faith based religion. Christianly is a faith based religion. Yes, we do believe in things we may not see. But flat earth religions actually deny that which is. They actually deny what they do see. The closing of the mind to possibilities can lead you to adhering to a flat earth religion, because you end up denying truth, even when the proof is before your eyes. Essentially this is the fruit of the pride of life. Pride and arrogance makes a premature statement before it fully explores those possibilities, and even after proof is discovered, it to stubborn to admit they were wrong.
Two edged sword.

How "illusory" were they, when they led you to Christ in the first place?
Again, you come to understand that they did nothing of the sort, as there was never a Christ to be lead to.

Hmmm.

They might have something to say about that.

If these "gods" are what they claim to be, which one would be your preference?

Love-thine-enemy Jesus?

Or convert-or-die Allah?

Of the two, which would be your preference?

Dealing options from a stacked deck AV?

You should be ashamed of yourself. ;)

Read Romans 1, gaara.

Start at verse 19.

Paul describes people who "deconverted" (changed the object of their faith from Jesus to science) to a tee.

Including why they deconverted.

If Romans 1: 19 - 32 is not a description of most scientists today, I'm Genghis Khan.

Hundreds of God. No, sir. Where do you get the 100’s from?

According to the Encyclopedia of Gods there are/have been more than 2,500 gods. You worship your particular god as a result of the time and culture you were born into. Change the time and culture and you'd be happily worshipping Thor.
