Ok.. so as the thread title states question time...

The Bible says that if you confess your sins they are forgiven. So why is it then when you get to Heaven you are judged by those sins when God opens the Book of Life?

Revelations 20:12
"And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books."

If you have other scriptures that you think would be handy, please post them in here :)

If you re-read that scripture, it doesn't say they're judged by their sins, but rather by their works.

Now I know many P/C'ers have a problem with believing that our works are important to God, yet James is clear that our good works are proof of our faith.

Ok maybe that wasnt the best scipture I wanted to quote..

I just want to know about our sins being forgiven but judged later when God opens the Book of Life on you.

Your sins are now as far as east is from west, cast into the depths of the sea, God says He chooses never to remember them etc. (I can't look up those 3 scriptures now, off to church in 2 mins, but if you need them ask me later.)

You are not going to be judged for them - that happened already when Jesus was made sin for us and we came under His blood.

IT IS FINISHED!

Hallelujah - am I glad of that!

As Father Rick says, the judging of Christians os different from those not covered by the blood.

In the judgement of believers we are rewarded according to our lives for Him, not punished for failures.

God bless, love Sue

It truly is simple. If you're saved, your in the book of life. If not, then you're not. Are you judged according to your works? Yes, all will be held accountable whether good things or bad things. For the Christian though, you are judged according to the law of the Spirit, not the Law of Moses. You will receive or lose reward according to what you have done. You won't lose your salvation, that gift that has been given already. The Spirit is that guarantee (Eph. 1:14) and He will never be taken from us once we believe (John 14:16). We just haven't received the fulness of salvation, but we have received the promise, and that promise will be fulfilled as the Spirit is the down payment of that purchased possession.

What rewards will we recieve or lose?

Those in Heaven have already been judged, as have those who are in Hell. Those who will be judged at the end of the Millennial Kingdom are those spirits who have remained on the Earth.

Revelations is allegorical, not literal.

Or do you really think God has a book with all that stuff written in it? :)

The Book of Life is mentioned many times in scripture, starting in the Old Testament. And yes, Revelations is literal.

From the way it reads, it seems everybody is written in it, and whoever sins against God without repentance is taken out

Exodus 32:32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.Exodus 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

There's others, but that's where it starts

Yep, I do believe that God has a book - or more likely a scroll! :) We pentacostals tend to take the scriptures literally! :preach:

Here are the other scriptures, in case you're wondering.

Psalms 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Philippians 4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

That about covers it

The currrent residents in hell are awaiting their judgment, which is the second death. All will be called forward. The judgment is at the end, not in the middle. All Christians will be given according to their works. Same as the residents of hell.
