  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Garden of Eden was never on this "version" of earth. It still exists on another "version" of earth. It is possible that dead Christians go there for a temporary stay.

You missed the question that was in that post.

Would you find the same information more convincing if it were declared or assorted as truth? or that it is not open to revision or falsification?

Is that not what religion does?

It's what faith-based beliefs do.

Did Jesus [allegedly] say, "I think I am the way, most probably the truth, and should be the life: I have tentatively concluded that no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"?

No, it doesn't. If you're looking to reconcile an old universe with a young earth I suggest investigating the ideas of John Hartnett and Russell Humphreys. Each is a physicist who is also a Christian literalist.

Humphrey's cosmology requires a cosmological blueshift. We observe just the opposite, a cosmological redshift. And that is just one problem with Humphrey's cosmology.

I am unfamiliar with Hartnett. Perhaps you could present his theory?

I have faith it is the truth.

Scientific theories are not truth claims, and do not require faith. The computer in front of you does not require that you 'believe' in semiconductor theory.

I do not see how you draw the comparison between scientific theories and your faith-based beliefs.

Where is this other version of earth?

I like to speculate that it is in another "dimension". This mysterious thing could intertwine with the current version of earth but we just can not detect it.

By 2008 Humphreys had moved to a new model that no longer had the blueshift problem.

Hartnett's ideas can be googled.

How so?
Hartnett's ideas can be googled.

Then google them. You are the one bringing it up. It isn't our job to search out the evidence for your claims.

The 'theory' word game is at play here. For example, there's semiconductor theory and then there's the theory that all life is the result of only random/chance mechanisms acting on an alleged single life form of long long ago.

'Theory' is observable in one instance and 'theory' is nothing more than a series of guesses and suppositions in the other.

Could be. I've never thought of an earth-like other dimension, but I wouldn't argue against such a view either.

Indeed. Your word game is very obvious.

If I repeatedly assert that "theism" is nothing more than "believes in things imaginary", will it cause you to question your beliefs?

Do word games work on you?

Nope. AV doesn't claim we have an image.
AV says that a translated, hand-copied, unevidenced, subject-to-interpretation story, where the originals are lost to time, is better than an image of the actual event, and here you are asking for pictures.

Are you holding science to a higher standard than your religion? Can you not accept it on faith?
