  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The 6,000-year figure is calculated by working backward through the genealogies to the year of Adam's creation.

From Genesis 5:

It's difficult to postulate Adam's creation date as any year other than about 6,000 years ago. While it's true that Jews sometimes left names out of their genealogies, the genealogies that are most relevant for this issue (in Gen 5 and Gen 11) have a more precise form. You can see an example of that precision in the quote above.
,
For the sake of argument, lets say that Adam's creation date was about 6,000 years ago. That doesn't address the issue of the age of the universe.

You still haven't supported your comment that Adam was 20 or 30 when he was created. I'm curious as how you arrive at that. Maybe from pictures depicting them?

Um ... Rick?

It looks much older. If God ever "thinks things through" when He creates,
( I give Him credit for this ) then the cosmos could have been created
just like Adam was, in a partially finished state.

"Partially finished state" is a very human concept due to our slavery to "time."
God is not tied to this problem. But from our perspective, things seem
to be aged already for us. Jesus "instantly" turns water to wine, heals the lame,
heals the blind, raised the dead......all things that our slavery to time
does not allow us to accomplish as humans.

What we see in the universe is equivalent to finding scars on a 5 minute old Adam. What we see is evidence of a history that isn't needed for a functional universe. What you are ultimately pushing for is a trickster God who plants fake evidence of a history just to fool us.

Did that "trickster God" give us a document detailing what He did, how He did it, where He did it, when He did it, what order He did it in, how long it took Him to do it, why it took Him that long, and who the eyewitnesses were?

Are you admitting that God is a trickster? Are you saying that God created evidence for a fake history in our universe that God knew would conflict with the Bible?

What evidence do you have the book of Genesis is true? Were you there?

Those who witnessed Jesus resurrection came to understand
what God is capable of doing and accepted the scriptures
they had as correct. Then they wrote about it.

We just have to decide if they were all insane, or not.

As God is not a respector of persons , would it be fair of Him to create a person (Adam) who was not able to enjoy the benefits of a universe with planets and stars as we do?

I'm saying you're not considering all the evidence.

You left out the Bible in your [false] accusation.

Would enjoying the planets and stars require Adam to have fake scars on his back? Would it require a specific ratio of Uranium and Lead in zircons? Would it require a constant ratio of redshift to distance for galaxies? Would it require high redshift type Ia supernovae to show time dilation? Would it require a fake history of retroviral invasion in the genomes of primates?

I couldn't resist the Ken Ham approach. :p

Are you really looking for answers or are you trying to show us that you are more wise than God?
