question about baptism

I thought some1 can help me figure something out, Im an adventist whose been baptized already but I have some1 who is close to me whom Ive been preaching to... but who has also being preached to by some mormons who went around his home... so anyways...

they taught him about baptism... so I taught him what I believe about baptism (the official adventist view that I agree and believe in) ...But anyways... Now this friend of mine (not yet knowing much about the Bible) is thinking of getting baptise in the latter day saits church... but he told me that he doesnt agree with all of their beliefs... (but it seems they have the closest to what he believes...) -I dont think he knows much about them anyways, but these guys that visited him think he is "ready" and stuff...

so he asked me a q... and I have some thoughts about it, but Id wanted a new perspective (and possibly if you could post bible verses)

q is... Since baptim means you accepted the dead of Jesus as your own, you accepted Jesus in to your heart... and you wanna get baptise, will any church be fine? (even if you dont share all their beliefs)

My friend thinks that he wont ever agree with ALL the beliefs of a religion... so he ask me... does this mean I shouldnt get baptised?

Since baptim means you accepted the dead of Jesus as your own, you accepted Jesus in to your heart.

Baptism symbolizes dying to self and coming alive in Jesus.

and you wanna get baptise, will any church be fine?

I don't think I would be a good idea if you don't agree with the Church.

I would suggest to your friend that he thinks very seriously about getting baptised if he cannot accept all of their beliefs.

We all know they have some beliefes that are at odds with main stream Christianity so he should be very careful in what he does.

The Bible talks of being unequally yoked together now if he cannot accept all of what they say then that is for sure not being equally yoked together.

Yes tell your friend ANYBODY can baptize him in the name of the Father, Son and HOLY spirit. I think the franchise days of traditional church control is ending. GO get baptised ...if any strings are attached.. then yes by all means be aware. Teach your friend the meaning of Jesus in your OWN way. Baptize him in the pool if you want. The bible clearly states to baptize each other in the names mentioned above. Soo I dont think it matters who does it. Take care.

By all means baptise and take care.

But be very careful as to who will do the baptising as it will often mean that the doctrines of that group will be followed and you do not want to be going down the wrong pathway.

Please be causious. The Mormon Church 's teachings go against the word of God. Though they baptis by immersion they also believe in baptism of the dead which is pagen. Check out there beliefs so you can better advise your friend and please pray and study the bible woth him.

Honestly to tell you what I think about baptism is, true baptism lies in the heart, I mean think about it one can physically be baptised, but just because you are getting baptised doesn't actually mean you have accepted Christ in your heart. Many people do it for reasons like marriage or just to become a member of a church etc. And to me it really doesn't matter where you get baptised, I mean think about Christ got baptised in a lake. If he truly excepts Christ in hos heart he should get baptised but it doesn't really matter where. Baptism is the beggining road of living the Christian life. Once he is baptised he should get to know the word even better and search for whatever church is most comfortable for him.

Right, and not only that but there belife in many god's [polytheism] is also pagan... They are quite the decievers and they are taught to decieve by there denominational leaders, they are the first ones to tell you that they do believe in the trinity.. But you should see "how they define the trinity you would find them flip - floping when the trinity topic is brought up in an attempt to hide there identity, " it becomes extremely frustrating when debating a mormon" because they waver so much.. And at last, when you have refuted most if not all of there claims scripturally, they will tell you that the bible contradicts and even if you refute that claim they still wont believe you.. They believe that G-d the father is not spirit as the bible clearly reveals but flesh and bones.. They confine G-d to an area so they do not believe he is omnipresent, they believe that G-d the father, G-d the son, and G-d the holy spirit, are three distinct gods, and worst of all they believe that male Mormons that get married in a Mormon Temple, [what they call a sealing] "will become god's." Thye also believe that G-d the father which they call [Elohim] has a wife and by sexual cohabitation they procreate spirit children... They don't believe in the virgin birth.. You see as much as Mormons deny and say they do they really don't!!! why? Mormon Prophet Orson Pratt said that G-d the father came to Mary house and had sexual relationship with her but since she had sex with an immortal she did not lose her virginty... Till today this falsity has been taught by mormons and Orson Pratt is still a prophet according to mormons even though he made those copromising statement... They do not believe Yeshua could have been G-d if he had not gotten married... Where does it say that in G-d's word? I don't know ask a mormon.. They believe Yeshua got married to Mary Magdalin...

Like man is G-d once was, like G-d is man shall become.... I'll never forget the day a Mormon had the oddasity to tell me this "yet he gave me no biblical support" yet he told me it was found in the bible... I asked him to provide me with the text? He told me he did not know but he knew it was there...

I believe you should tell your friend to first and foremost study the mormon belifes before he decides to get baptised.. Tell him to Read all the Mormon Prophet books, they speak for themselves, mormons will give them away for free, specially when you are thinking and/or about to become a member... Tell him to read: - The book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, The Pearl of Great Price and apart from that all the other books written by there prophets Brigham Young, Orson Pratt ect .ect. Tell him to read as much books as possible so he can see for himself all of the compromising statements these men made and compare them with the word of life..

If i were you i would tell him to waite before he makes that decision.

I have been in many, many meetings/debates/conversations with LDSs -- I must have a magnet or something to attract. LOL I can tell you I have learned a lot even about ourselves as Adventists and how we came about during the Great Awakening part deux with a bunch of other seeking souls. One thing has perplexed me to this day: why would we as spirit-children in the Spirit/Celestial world want to put on human flesh to experience suffering and whatnot down on Earth in order to be purified (for want of a better word) and then go back into the Celestial Kingdom? No one has been able to satisfactorily explain this to me.

The only thing that I could add, and I have used with deealing witht the LDS on no few occasions is to read 1 John chapter 2:1-6.
Remember, that the Bible came before their book and remind them that God does not change and any new light will have to agree with the old light.
