  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Confirmation from my friend Chris

His email arrived today

To: dave_dajobauk@hotmail.co.uk
From: Christopher_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Subject: Out Of Limbo

On the 17th June, just before my second prostap injection
I had another PSA test.
This afternoon I 'phoned the health centre to get the results.
The PSA count is down to 1.1.
I am relieved that the PSA count is low.
Reason said it would be
but there was always a nagging doubt.
Now looking forward to the count to go sub-zero.
I'm putting some questions together
for when I next see the Urologist at the end of July.
I hope he is not pushed for time!

-----------------------------------------------------

My dear GE friends

On behalf of my friend Chris'
I would like to thank you all for your prayers for him
The above is the evidence that our prayers REALLY DO MATTER
That they ARE HEARD and our faith is rewarded
for He is faithful unto His promise
'wherever two or three shall gather in my name, I will be in their midst'
'ask and it shall be given ye'

Thank you

your Bro' in Christ

Here is another prayer request

For, our Sister 'Darlene' & her family
You will recall that Darlene's father died recently [?]

'Darlene' has been very ill of late
and tests during the last two months
have not-yet ruled-out, cancer

She tells me that day to day life is fraught
with stuff 'going-wrong' [Financially and with Health matters]
and seemingly... 'one after another'

"you wouldnt believe, all he [Satan] has been throwing at us
it's just one never ending story and just too much to type
Im just saying I hope our living arrangement
where I, my daughter and grandson live
pray the roof doesnt fall in on us also
yes very much I pray God's light shines on us very soon"

Let us :groupray: for our Sister Darlene and her family

Lord, be merciful to this family we pray
Give them strength to overcome these trials
and shine your loving light upon their shadows
to bring needed help and support to their door
Lord, you said, 'ask and it shall be given ye'
Lord, we are, asking
not, for-ourselves, but, for this family
amen

:groupray: for Paul and kaykay

Father of all, by whose mercy and grace
your saints remain in everlasting light and peace:
we remember with thanksgiving
those whom we love but see no longer;
and we pray that in them
your perfect will may be fulfilled

Almighty God, we pray that,
encouraged by the example of your saints,
we may run with patience the race that is set before us,
looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith;
so that at the last we may join those whom we love
in your presence where there is fullness of joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

I am very confused and conflicted right now.....
The family situation has caused some internal struggles with me, so, I guess I need to stop fighting it and hunker down in prayer (which I have strayed from recently).
Prayer and sacrifice... right?! His will be done.
Surrender has been an issue with me lately.....Obviously I am missing the Lord's call in all this.
I will still answer pms/emails but have decided to retreat from the forum for a bit so I can pray and hear what the Lord is trying to tell me at this point in my life.

Someone sent this email to Darlene

It too, has some good advice in it

To:

Subject: Water Glass

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience,
raised a glass of water and asked,

"How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranging from 2 to 5 pounds.

The lecturer replied,
"The absolute weight doesn't matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it."
He continued,
"If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it's the same weight.
But the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.

"And that's the way it is with stress management.

If we carry our burdens all the time,
sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy,
we won't be able to carry on.
As with the glass of water, you have to put it down."

Then Jesus said,
"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you.
Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.
(Matthew 11:28-30)

Thank you Darlene Sis'

My prayers for you and your family continue

Still praying for Andrew and for your friend dave. I am hoping that yesterday was a peaceful time for you and your husband Kaykay.
I am also praying that your mom-in-laws's situation will improve either that suitable accomodation and care will be found or that she will imporve her ability to function in the present lovely setting. Jan.

I don't know but I am hearing so many stories of Christians going through just horrible trials right now. I know a lot has to do with the present financial climate due to recession. But I believe that there is more to it than that. I think Satan is trying to sift us. I think we should take time to pray for all believers right now that the God of all comfort and the Lord our rock will sustain and encourage us and give us strength and faith and courage to continue to stand for what is right and to continue to honour the Lord even in the trials.
