  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Heartbreaking. another forum said one child has died and two more are fighting for their lives. Lord help these people

Yes, they are critical; one is worse than the other (see update).

May God be with them and their parents; they have a long road of healing (body, mind, and spirit) ahead of them :( :crossrc:

:prayer: for peace and comfort for all
In Jesus' Name I

Isaiah 40.New International Version (NIV)

Comfort for God’s People

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed,
that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins

3 A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord[a];
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.[b]

4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

6 A voice says, “Cry out." And I said, “What shall I cry?”
“All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.

7 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.

8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

9 You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain.
You who bring good news to Jerusalem,[c] lift up your voice with a shout,
lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!”

10 See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm.
See, his reward is with him and his recompense accompanies him.

11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart he gently leads those that have young.

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breadth of his hand
marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
or weighed the mountains on the scales
and the hills in a balance?

13 Who can fathom the Spirit[d] of the Lord or instruct the Lord as his counselor?

14 Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way?
Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?

15 Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket;
they are regarded as dust on the scales;
he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.

16 Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.

17 Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless
and less than nothing.

18 With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him?

19 As for an idol, a metalworker casts it,
and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it.

20 A person too poor to present such an offering selects wood that will not rot;
they look for a skilled worker to set up an idol that will not topple.

21 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood since the earth was founded?

22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

23 He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

24 No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them
and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

25 “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

1 Thessalonians 5 [full chapter]

The Day of the Lord

Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,

2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly,
as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness
so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

5 You are all children of the light and children of the day.
We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate,
and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Final Instructions

12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you,
who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.

13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive,
encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do
what is good for each other and for everyone else.

16 Rejoice always,

17 pray continually,

18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit.

20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt

21 but test them all; hold on to what is good,

22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.
May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us.

26 Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss.

27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

:amen:

Subject: Re: Wednesday morn

Ice melted a little yesterday and today should go away except where it's deep.
Our problem is that we have no equipment to handle the ice.
Atlanta, Birmingham and Montgomery really had problems
because this storm was not predicted to hit them.
Ruthie's stepdaughter lives in B'ham and is pregnant (her other two 2 & 4 were in daycare).
She went for a doctor visit in clear weather
but the storm moved in and she had to spend the night at the doctor's office.
Her husband got within 6 miles of the daycare and walked the rest of the way.
He spent the night in the daycare center with all those children!
Wednesday he was able to get home to get a 4-wheel drive truck
and could get Michelle from the dr. and his children,
plus 6 others whose parents couldn't get to them.

Take care of yourself - think about you often.

Please tell Dave that friend Iris called yesterday.
She's having a terrible time recovering
and this week they found a lump in her breast.
Next week they will do a biopsy.
Keep her on the prayer list!

Lord we  for our family and friends and their friends and families
and for everyone encountering so much to bear

Lord, these matters touch our hearts so-heavily
Have mercy dear Lord
In Jesus' name we :prayer:

:amen:
