Pretty decent KDE 4 desktop there. I have just tried KDE Plasma 5 and its looks to be a big overall improvement especially in speed.

Will probably upgrade to the latest KDE when my current SSD goes kablooey and I have to start over fresh. - Of course all of my important stuff is saved on Blu-Rays.

Glad to hear that KDE 5 isn't a disaster like 4 was in the beginning.

Interesting how things go. When I first switched from XP to Kubuntu in 2008 I became obsessed with computers and technology, and had to keep up with all the latest trends. Now all that matters is that my computer does my work and then plays YouTube videos after work.

I probably start tinkering with computers again. Perhaps I've been a little too absorbed in theological studies. - I can't do only one thing all the time!

I agree, for "development tasks" (word processing, coding, video/audio processing) and web browsing, you really need a GUI interface. Some tasks like database management, it is actually faster with a terminal..

Coding is better with a GUI? One word: Emacs.

Sounds like your graphics card or processor was getting overwhelmed with the intense graphics.
I've got a 55 gallon tank that I would love to get looking like that...it's in storage right now,though.

I was having lockup issues until I switched HDs and GCs..not a hiccup since.
It would lock up during mundane things like disc clean up,defrag..basically any scan,and the monitor was getting flashing black lines and squiggly areas.
Could not even think of trying to play hidden objects games.
