The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Why does it matter? Because you matter Ari. If hurting yourself didn't matter, you also wouldn't have a problem with hurting me - it would heal too - yet I know you wouldn't do it. If you want reasons why it will matter in the future, cutting/hurting yourself can give you permanent nerve damage. It makes your skin brittle and it releases chemical stores that are meant to last you throughout your life. It also distorts your perception of pain, which is the natural way our body reacts to danger in real life.thanks Maria.. it's okay, i understood what you meant. How are you doing today?
I wish there was someone here (in the non CF world) who knew about this...
and thanks Steffi. why do you care though? why does it matter.:-(. it'll heal..

Well said. Even though "in the heat of the moment" it's hard to see it that way. Does anyone else just "sit there" and contemplate their scars?from personal expirience it amkes everything worse
when i cut it would be a realese for 5 seconds and then i'd have to live withit till it healed then the scars, and when ever i loked at the cuts it would make think about how upset I was and make me feel worse,a dn then worse, and then I just remembered the depression and cry, and cut again, and it would be a viscous cricle...
